| Savox SC-1256tg gets too hot to touch after just a few minutes...
It's in my xr10, and even just testing on hardwood floors for a few minutes (less than 5), it gets hot. I didn't even have half an 850mAH battery pack through it at the park and I couldn't touch it for more than about 2 seconds! It's powered by a castle bec at 6v. The rig is novak m2 at 3s, and the bec is wired from the battery with the red and black going straight to the servo. Orange wire not used. Am I missing something? My Hitec's can be bound up for a good while and barely be warm to the touch at 7.4v. Also, the servo is rated at 277oz. I don't think so. What is wrong with this thing? |

Do you have the 1268"mg"? Or maybe the 1258"tg"? Or the 1268"sg"? There isn't a 1268 "tg" on the market from savox |

End points set correctly? I had several servos on my Xr after I first got it, 2 savoux and a Hitec 7955, end points were my main problem, then I was expecting too much from the servo cause they just didn't have enough force for how I was driving. Double check all settings. what happens if you plug in the batt and don't drive the rig for 5 min? Or just drive straight forward and backward 5-10 ft a couple times in that 5 min. If it does heat up without steering I'd say wiring or a setting is off, if it doesn't heat up until you start steering then I'd say end points and or servo is too small. I ended up with a 7950, then fine tuned the positioning of the link between the servo arm and steering arm holes and now I can run nonstop if the weather is under 80* Last edited by Whiplashdjs; 05-20-2014 at 08:26 PM. |

horrible servo for what you are going to do with it....277 isn't remotely enough torque. You're going to need something around 350 minimum. You're working that servo too hard, its going to get that hot and burn up very quickly. |

Come to think of it I think that's what was on my xr when I got it, great servo for SC, or maybe a ?scaler? But not a crawler even if it was 2 lbs!

I drive mine hard, if you do also I suggest the 7950. If you crawl casual and gentle and take breaks a 7955 will last awhile if everything is in its favor. I keep hearing about these protek cheap high torque servo's??

Ive got a few 5955tg spares ill throw one of them in. I like my 7955's...I run them hard with no breaks and dont have a problem in my 6.5lb bully.

My favorite by far has been the savox 2230sg. The 1268-1258 I owned both overheated and lost basically all of their available torque. But my current 2230 doesn't even get up to 100 degrees F. . Savox SB 2230SG HV Monster Torque Standard servo |

Hey I take anything bad I said about the savox servo back. I just sat down and examined the rig after a long time away from it and I realized that the steering arm on the knuckle is super short and difficult to move with my hand much less a servo. I need a longer arm or a stronger servo. the arm is just really short.

I ran a 1256TG on my 8.5 lb Wraith for two and 1/2 years and it never got hot. It eventually got changed out to a higher torque servo, and put into a trail truck. That said, you could probably use a higher torque servo in your pro truck. |
