Default Bit of an odd esc issue

Well, a few minutes ago my SCEXO's lights suddenly dimmed, just while driving around normally. I brought it in to see what was up, and it would appear that the esc us only outputting 2.57v instead of the 4.8 that it should. I only have the lights running off the esc, everything else (reciecer, winch , servo) is running off a cc bec.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I'd have thought that if he bec had died it would die completely, so a bit confused here. I'll plug it into the PC software to see if anything is messed up, but the bec voltage isn't changeable, so idk what could have happened.

Thanks!

Loose wire, internal short, or damaged regulator. If the reg really only put out 2.6v the ESC wouldn't boot up unless the brain has its own isolated regulator circuit, which isn't typical. Normally there is a 5 or 6v reg and another 3.3v reg dropping the 6v down for the brain.

Check the rx wires on the ESC pcb for fraying.

Thanks John!

I went to have a look at it to see how easy it would be for me to get to the PCB to see of there was any damage (it's covered in waterproof silicone), and realized that I had only checked the voltage at the lights (I use a heyok light controller). I unplugged the Esc connector and checked the voltage directly, and it was outputting 5.87 or thereabouts, as it should.

Seems like an issue with the hayok controller as opposed to the esc itself, which is good. I'll have a look at it for anything obvious, the give heyok a pm if I need to.

Yeah, short in the light side of things would do that.
