dx4c with winch

has any one figured out how to get a winch hooked up to a dx4c using the 4210 receiver with the avc disabled? I can get the winch to work perfect when the avc is on and yes I programmed one of the switches as a 3p.
thanks

Re: dx4c with winch

Are you disabling the AVC at the transmitter or at the reciever?

Re: dx4c with winch

I think at the transmitter also tried at the reciver but not sure if im doing it correctly

Re: dx4c with winch

there is a disable port on the receiver that you install a bind plug into and that fully disables the AVC.

Re: dx4c with winch

Would you happen to know the procedure for this? I tried the disable port and couldn't get it to work.

Re: dx4c with winch

if you put the bind plug in and the disable plug into the disable port then rebind your radio, once rebound only remove the bind plug, leave the disable plug in.

then go into your menu and double check that AVC option shows INH,

then go to the travel adjust for the aux channel your using and set it to 150% both ways, im using a dx4c/SR410 with no problems using both aux for many different types of electronics.

edit:

the avc recievers have a specific bind/calibration process, ill just dig out my manual...............ok so as follows:

so prior to binding check avc is disabled in menu, set desired aux channel travel to 150% both ways, you need to do this before as any changes made after binding to any setting will need to go through this all over again because of the avc calibration, once all done now continue with steps below

1. bind plug in bind port, disable plug in disable port
2. make sure st. trim and th trim are centred
3. put radio into bind mode
4. power up rx and wait for orange light to go solid
5. trigger to full throttle wait very briefly
6. trigger to full reverse " " " "
7. turn steering full right
8. turn steering full left
9. steering back to centre the led should flash
10. remove bind plug but LEAVE DISABLE plug in place and turn tx off

now power it back up and test aux channel, if the winch controller still doesnt work then chuck a true digital servo in their, standard servos wont really work and will eventually crap out as the signal frequency is too much for them lol

hope this can help.

Re: dx4c with winch

actually it may be the srs4210 rx that could be th issue, the srs4210 is a pure digital output with fast frame rate/high frequency, i had to swap mine with a friend for the sr410 as i didnt have true digital servos and it freaks out with standard ones.

if you try the method in my previous post and see if that works but if not you will have to consider getting the sr410 instead.

im pretty sure it should work for the winch though, all my homebrew circuits did work on the aux channels so hopefully the previous info should get you going.

what winch controller you using?

Hi Tony G,
I also have the dx4c with a sr410 receiver. Now, I have a light bar in the 3rd channel (aux 1) and it works fine, it's always on. However, I tried to map a switch so that I can turn the light bar on/off without having to unplug the light bar, but to no avail. I tried it with 3p, 2p and linear and no effect. Do you know how I could make it so that the switch would turn the light bar on/off?

Thanks

Re: dx4c with winch

Most lightbar doesn't comes with the electronics to switch on/off...

the RX only supply the power to the lightbar, it cannot turn them on/off (power wise)

Re: dx4c with winch

You can buy an auxiliary switch that will allow you to turn electronics off and on through an AUX channel. But without an actual switch (more like a solenoid really) you will only get constant power from an AUX channel.

I offer a few things that let you turn your lights on and off from a receiver channel:

And several others. Click the link in my sig for the rest.

I have both your led control and the winch control. I won't use anything else ever again.

Re: dx4c with winch

I have my DX4c on my scx10 and I use the aux channels for light and winch controls and have full control of both, for the winch controller I used an old traxxas servo, epoxied the potentiometer center and soldered in a connection for my winch motor where the original servo motor was and I have full control from my transmitter when I set the aux to a 3 position switch, as for the lights, I also have, well had a baja 5b and I bought the HPI light set for it that come with a controller that plugged into the reciever then you plugged the lights into the controller then the aux switch set for 2 position works like an off/on switch that you can switch on the fly. I don't really have much info on the light controller but you can see how I made the winch controller on my youtube channel at www.youtube.com/pmm4177 and it should be one or two videos from the top. Thanks and hope this helps someone
