Default Want to Water Proof Axial Yeti XL For Year Round Fun!

Hey all,

I live in Washington state and would like to run year round with my Yeti XL and not have to worry about water. Mainly running after it had rained or run in a very light rain. (not looking to submerge my rig or anything, at most up to the axles in a creek or something)

I know you can "water proof" pretty much all rc electronics but I really dont want to deal with that and just take advantage of the out of the box waterproof electronics...that being said this is what Im looking at.

Mamba Monster X esc (waterproof)

Tekin 1/8 T8 Gen2 4038 Brushless Motor 2250kV TT2365 (sensored)

XPERT Digital Waterproof Servos #WR-7701HV

Spektrum receiver in the stock reciever box.

Is ok to run that Tekin sensored motor in all weather conditions (rain,snow,dirt,sand..ect)?
I know I should be able to run the CC 1515 2200kv motor that came with the MMX but I want to run sensored..any advice?

That motor will have to be waterproofed and should have an outerwears cover on it if you plan to run in sand

Waterproofing a sensored motor only really involves taking care of the sensor board. Conformal coating does a wonderful job, I have done a few motors this way and they work fine.

Just remember anything with a fan, like the esc, can't get wet so you will have to pull it before you run in water.

So pull the fan on esc and waterproof the sensor board and your good to go.

Also remember your battery needs to be waterproofed as well.

I guess I should of been more specific...So, I live in washington state where it rains quite a bit and Id like to run year round. Now when I say that I mean like run after it had rained..not running while its raining and definatly wouldnt run In water....well not past the axles !! So when I say waterproof I just mean for "some" water, not submerging or anything.

Also, I heard somewhere that lipos are air tight, so if they are air tight wouldnt they be water tight?

Lipo batteries are individually sealed so you'll be fine there, I've run all mine in deep water with no issues, soft packs and hard packs. As for the ESC, I use MMPs in all my rigs and have waterproofed the boards and still use the fans without issue. I've run several of my rigs in some deep water and not had a problem but your experience may differ from mine.

As mentioned above, conformal coat your sensor board on the motor and you should be good to go.

Lipos are waterproof by nature. No need to do anything there. Any bat manufacture that is claiming water proof.... It's just a marketing ploy

The only time you will have issue with a kilo in water is in salt water or high mineral content water.
