| Help me pick a charger
I have never needed a really nice charger before. I've decided I want to switch to LiPo, so that means I need a better charger. I know NOTHING about what makes a good charger, so keep that in mind! I run 6-8 cell packs, so it needs to be able to charge them as well as LiPo. I also run with others, so if it can charge multiple packs at a time, that would be nice as well. I assume it will require a power supply, it seems most of the nicer ones do. I'll also need to know if there is a power supply thatr is better than others. Money is not an object with this purchase, I plan to drop maybe $300 between the charger and power supply. I figure another $150 for some batteries, but that's another thread... |

i have kokam/fma scorpion lipo batteries and charger. the charger is nice and easy to use, just plug it in, set the charge rate and wait for it to finish, also balances the cells. i just got an adpator plug to use with orion and peak performance lipos. it dosnt charge nimh's but i got a duratrax dual charger for those. probably dosnt help you any but thought i'd mention it.

I have been using the hyperion 5idp for a while now. I agree, flippin awesome! Available for $115 WITH AC/DC input and backlit screen. Kicks the ICE up and down the street. I have also used the 7i for about a year. Same features, just a higher voltage and amperage capability. 5 amps is enough for most any pack though.

the triton is good for the lipos and other bateries and charging 4 of the same as the same as charging one. but you need a power suply. the triton is about 80.00 and the power suply is about 30.00 at radioshack.

I hated my triton. Never gave a full charge on lipos, was ok on nimh, and after a while it didnt terminate my lipo charges. The scroll/button also got mushy after a while. Made it VERY hard to dial in the charge rate and keep it there while starting the charge. I have no experience with the ICE other than feeling one in the store. It looks very nice and I have heard great things about it, but I am a big fan of hyperion right now. The feel of the hyperion buttons is really what makes it shine for me. Feel is a large part of quality IMO, and is the reason why I use my jr6102 more than my DX6. Same radio, different switches and buttons. |

yes it does. It will charge a huge brick of them. 10 amp charge rate. When used near the voltage/ amperage limits the charger will pull 25 amps | |

It is DC and requires a hoss power supply to reach potential (or a car battery). Unless you are charging huge banks of 12s lipo cells, it is much more than will be needed. If your packs will never be more than 5s lipo or 14 cells nimh, the 5i is perfect. If you need ac power the 5i has an optional AC/DC version. I have both of those versions, but not the 12i.
