Default Li Po charger

I was thinking of picking up an MRC Super brain 989 charger so I didn't have to buy a power supply.

Has anyone here heard anything about them?

mrc is a great company that has been around for quite some time now. i want to make the jump to lipo cells soon. i might pick up that charger also for the simple reason that you don't have to buy a seperate power supply. i have read a few good reviews about it.

I've heard mixed reviews on their other chargers, but I get the impression that their higher end stuff is pretty good. But for that price, you may wanna consider the Duratrax ICE. It requires a seperate power supply and the whole setup will likely cost about $40 bucks more than the 989, but I have yet to hear anything negative about the ICE and it has every featue imaginable and it will charge just about any battery out there.

I've got this one myself:

It works well, it's inexpensive compared to other chargers, but it lacks features and amp current. The only thing it has is adjustable current and a "boost" feature for re-peaking packs as well as a 5 amp max charge rate.

I assume you've read this thread?

Help me pick a charger

Some good info I just read in there.

I was going to get the ice and a supply but the MRC caught my eye.

IMHO, one of the best chargers (combo's really) for Lipo's is the Hyperion EOS 5i DP w/LBA10 balancer. It's $108 w/free shipping at BPP (where I got mine and other stuff):

http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=d_EOS_5IDP

They actually had 5% of all orders over Thanksgiving and xmas. Maybe they'll do it again over new years...

Anywho..it will do NiMH, Lipo, etc..., but the balancer really makes it worth it. You really cut down on Lipo worries and you will be able to keep your Lipo's in good condition longer. Oh...and the combo also comes with the data cable to connect the two so you can see per cell voltages and capacity as Lipo's charge.

One of my personal fav's is the Hyperion eos5i. It's small, affordable, and very easy to use. With how cheap it is... you can get a power supply too and have it for other things aswell.

Heres what I said on the other charger thread:
