| Crazy Power?
Looking at this! http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXNPK0&P=7 Just curious if this could be used in comps? I like the idea of being able to use between 6-14 cells. Thoughts or opinions! Mike |

It could work well depending on your setup. It isnt light or cheap though.

14 cells would weigh a ton, if I was going to use that many volts, I'd go Li-Po. If you want to know whether you could use it in comps, maybe you should have posted in the Rules and Regs section.

There are no limitations on power systems in a comp, but maybe he was wondering if it was comp worthy? It would have a nice throttle band, and would be very controllable. I would use it in a super if I had one.

If you want crazy power, get one of the big outrunners from Holmes and a mamba maxx. No need to run extra cells, tons of power, and very comp worthy. As a added bennefit you're also dealing with the best brushless guy in the buisness. |

Crazy power is relative to the size of rig. I have motors that are TOO much power for a tlt, and I have motors that are TOO much power for a super rig. I dont even talk about some motors I have, as there is no advantage to a heavy motor when a smaller motor gets the same job done. So what vehicle are you looking to power? |

This: Project: Fusion-X I was hoping to have a system that I can gear for crawling and at the same time something with enough rpm that I can gear higher for some fun in the snow, mud and general bashing. Not a comp crawler at all but I do want it to be as capable as it is going to look!! For batteries I'm using two 4 cell 2/3 custom packs, pics are in the above thread Its also heavy! If your not breaking parts than your not making enough horsepower! Mike |

You would probly be very pleased with the Hyperion 3025-8 from Holmes Hobbies. The power from this thing is SICK! Honestly,I don't think a guy would really need more than 2 horsepower in a RC crawler. My Twin crawler is right at 12 pounds, this motor slings it around like it's nothing. My final drive ratio is right at 63:1 and I'm running 9 sub C cells,IMHO,it's just about right. AWESOME low end torque and good wheelspeed. My Moabs are dang near melting away. I'm so impressed with the power of this thing,I'm gonna eventually run the same in my 2.2 crawler I'm working on. I'll run a little brushed motor to get it up and running and work the kinks out of it,but it'll be running a 3025-8 eventually. You said your gonna run a 2/3 a pack. One thing I've often wondered, would a guy loose some of the off the line punch running a 2/3 a cell over the sub C? ESC.....Handsdown,the Mamba Max is the way to go. Holmes Hobbies can hook you up with everything you need to melt your tires away |

So if I go with a Mamba max controller and the z3025-8, will I have any issues with locked rotor detection or any of the garbage that the novak product suffers from?

no you will not have the locked rotor detection. It will weigh a touch less, but it doesnt have the speed range or super slow speed capability of the novak. You will be able to run brushed motors and all other brushless motors with the speed control though.

It's tempting I don't know how I'd even fit it in my truck I'm sure I could come up with something, but it would be a tight fit I think that would be a true test to Twin Force axles

The only one I have is a video when I was goofing around with my BIG tires. They don't perform like my Moabs but they are fun to run at times. Theres a little section in the video of me turning in the leaves and dirt.....shows a little wheelspeed. We are having a get together tommorrow and I'm gonna get some good footage for some new video's of my new chassis set up,much better performance outta this one. I'll let ya know when I get the video's up. Heres the only one I have..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUkQz_a0IYI

You don't need any of that stuff if you have Holmes Hobbies I'd bet that place deals in monster trucks......monster trucks and crawlers need 2 totally different set ups. You can talk to John and the people HERE and get a beter set up for what we use our trucks for. Last edited by Reflection; 12-31-2006 at 11:29 PM.
