| Xerun 17.5 low top end
So I'm helping a friend of mine out, we've installed the xerun juststock system in his wraith and it has the 17.5 motor. When everything was done installing and came time to run the rig is slower than when it had the 20 turn motor in it. Are we missing something as far as programming or is it possible that he got a faulty unit???

The just stock setup is for blinkey light racing. IMHO. So a lot of the settings are fixed. However go up 2 teeth on the pinnion, and see if that helps. 149 r/c worx team driver |

I know we could gear it, but out issue is that even out of the box his brushed motor seems to have more top end with the same gearing. That doesn't seem right I have a brushless castle s3 in my crawler and his won't even come close to keeping up with me

| Re: Xerun 17.5 low top end The difference between a 20t brushed and the Xerun 17.5 isn't that significant (~3216 kV vs 3650 kV, so only around 10%). Get two or three larger pinions and watch your motor temps like snapon suggested.

I see I thought since it was a brushless setup it would be like the castle in a way maybe he'll have to get the castle then

A brushless 17.5t is comparable to a 27t brushed motor. Your brushed 20t is probably closer to a 13.5t brushless motor. Gearing up will bring you to the speed you were aiming, but to the cost of some heat and lower axle torque. In my opinion the beat combo for a wraith / bomber is a sensored 4 pole. Holmes Hobby or Tekin, the choice is your! I did run a bomber with a Hobbywing SCT pro and a 4000kv 4 pole sensored motor (on 2s). It wasn't as refined as a Tekin setup, but it was hauling!! You're not going to get top end from any 17.5 turn motor. Brushless motors are more efficient, but not really any faster than brushed motors. HobbyWing also makes great, inexpensive, brushless motors. I believe the RC Gear Shop motors sold on Tower Hobbies are just rebranded HobbyWing motors. |

The 17.5 motor you installed is 2100kv per their website. Comparing to a 4600kv motor it is going to be far slower. | |

| Re: Xerun 17.5 low top end This, and I stand corrected. The motor most definitely is 2100 kV per their website (not 3650 like I ass-umed). It's not even going to be half as fast as the Castle.

Just keep in mid, the ez run is designed for on road lighter weight or offload 2wd 10th scale buggies. So the heavier weight and the 4wd will more than likely severely shorten the life of the system. And/or "let the genie out".. Send a little more$ and get with HH or MMP and a 3300kv. It will make your runtime more enjoyable and a heck of a lot less head ache.
