| Winch issues?
Im running a mg946 servo winch from locked up rc with the hey ok controller built in. The issue Im having is when I use winch I don't have throttle but when I stop winch throttle works fine? Its almost like its browning out the rec! Truck runs great other than this issue. Also it didnt used to do this it just started last comp? HH br mini HH 13t puller 10 amp cc bec Mt-4 tx/rx 3s Im all ears...thanks in advance! |

Sounds like a, power wire, issue? Like they where powered separate, before.. but sharing power thru the RX? BEC dead? What's your wiring diagram, look like? Last edited by winnerone23; 02-04-2017 at 07:40 AM. Reason: Winch issue, is better then a wench issue, brutha!!! |

[QUOTE=Constant Threat;5661712]Does it steer when winching? I will need to try that again but Im thinking it was just throttle that wouldn't operate while winching?

How is it wired? What all runs power to/from your RX? Shoot me some pics or post em here. |

Did you check voltage on your lipos or try a different pack? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

You've wired the winch to feed off the RX voltage ? Using the HH's "Y" RX by-pass means the ESC's internal BEC is supplying the RX with voltage. What ESC and internal BEC voltage ? If doing it that way... the ESC likely doesn't supply enough voltage. And too much put thru an RX could be bad news for the RX. So as others have already asked... How do you have your winch wired up ? IMO a winch can draw too much voltage/amps from the RX and will starve the RX of it's necessary voltage. This could be causing your voltage starvation issues. How much voltage does your winch require for operation ? I would suggest using a winch controller. and supply power to the winch straight off the primary battery instead. HeyOK offers some options... A wireless controller (circumventing TX contrl.) and another that allows for TX control. Great products and service... and a vendor here. Last edited by TacoCrawler; 02-04-2017 at 03:30 PM. |

Steering works when winch is operating & so does throttle now? But when it has a tough pull it want do both throttle & winch at same time? I can wire the pwr(red)wire straight to the esc batt leads if that will cure problem Im on it! |

Only the signal and ground wires plug into the RX. So the steering servo would not be effected if the RX were over drawn. And is likely why your steering is working fine. It's more likely that your ESC's internal BEC does not supply enough voltage and the winch's demand is too much for the RX and is starving the ESC and causing the motor's hesitation - fault. Again... exactly how is your winch wired up and receiving voltage from /or thru what ? ^ possibly I missed that ? Last edited by TacoCrawler; 02-04-2017 at 04:21 PM.

Winch leads to rx(all 3 wires) Servo leads to bypass(signal/ground) Bec leads to bypasd(power) Bypass to rx(signal ground) Esc leads to rx(all 3 wires) Hope that helps you help me lol |

Only problem I can see if you go straight to the battery make sure your winch controller can handle the voltage if your running 3 or 4s Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

You could come off the bec that supplies your steering servo Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

using only the ESC's internal BEC ? What ESC and what internal BEC voltage does that supply ? No separate winch controller ? or did I miss that ? It's my guess the winch is demanding more voltage then the RX/ESC BEC can supply. The winch should draw voltage from the primary battery. 2s, 3s, 4s, 6s no matter. But a winch controller or BEC in line is what would regulate the winch's voltage. I personally would use a winch controller... as it will likely have a higher amp load then would a BEC. Winches commonly require a high amp load... because of the resistance they will endure under load. Heck I've never tried using an external BEC for the winch. So I didn't know if that could be made to work ? But I don't use my TX for winch operation either. I use the Heyok Wireless winch controller. (independent of TX control) ^ Simple push of key fob button (in or out / release and it stops) the Heyok fob clips to my GT3-C or my belt loop on my pants. I don't seem to misplace it or lose it. So it works for me. Leaves my TX's 3rd channel free for TX 4 wheel steering or lighting controls.
