Question Micro servo for 2- speed scx10 II

Hi, new here and waiting for my scx10 II to come in the mail here in a few hours. Have most of my build complete except for a few things. Was going to get the SSD 2 speed for the new AX20 trans (or maybe wait a bit for another company to design one) but in the meantime, was trying to find out if anybody knows of a high voltage MICRO servo thats out there to use for it and has anyone had any experience with one. I'm trying to avoid using a BEC altogether as im using the new Holmes Hobbies 12v shv500 and plan using its provided male JST plug to battery. Wouldnt want to buy a full size or use all that room on another one of these plus its a pretty pricey servo and hope I have good luck with it. So Id figure I'd ask around. Of course would prefer to use a waterproof one but not important as silicone fab would be fine. So does anyone know of a micro high voltage servo? Any answers to my inquiry would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Matt

You won't need a high voltage one for shifting duties, and the ESC's internal BEC will dictate voltage coming from the Rx, so a normal voltage mini/micro should be fine so long as you provide room for the horn to give enough throw.

You don't need a micro servo either. I use a cheap $35 Savox regular size servo for shifting.

Your thread reminded me I have an RC4WD two speed coming from a trade deal, so I got a micro Tactic tonight at the LHS.

Oh so theres more than just the SSD option? Hmm, going to check it out now. Only thing is, some of that Rc4wd driveline stuff is that pot metal that can break. Im really liking Vanqishes' metal they use from the looks of it. That REAL American made metal...

Would love to hear a opinion after the install

The ax2 which I traded with is nigh indestructible, but is huge and sits in the stock location. SSD is the only option to convert the 10.2 kit trans to its intended 2 speed configuration as of now. Remember the remaining Axial gears after the conversion are also Chinese sintered metal as well. Not sure about SSD's manufacturing process or location.

One things for sure, I'll definitely be getting that Atlas transfer case housing for sure on this one. Will probably be going Savox route for shifting 2nd. Keep us updated and let us know if that micro Tactic is any good. Are they metal gear? May just get that one..

Nah, plastic, it's only shifting gears. With a Z bend piano wire linkage, it shouldn't suffer any shocks.
