| LED Storage
I am one of those freaks that makes my own lighting systems, as a result, I have a ready supply of LEDs (nothing worse than when you are ready to build and don't have the parts). Currently I am using electrical tape containers (3M) to store and organize my LEDs. This works, but it can be come a little unwieldy. Anyone have a better/different system for LED storage? Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr In case you are wondering, my LED of choice are Common Sense LEDs. So far I have had great success with them, they come prewired with the load resistor, put out a good amount of light, and they have a very wide voltage range. Thanks for the info. I just checked them out. I like the kits that do brake lights, turn signals, etc, but that will have to wait for my second creamer. I'm new to crawlers (as in, I don't even have one...yet...but, it's on its way), as I've primarily been "going fast" (buggies, SCTs & STs, on indoor clay track). Figured, it was time to learn to "slow down". I've got an Axial Capra 1.9 on the way, and, while it already includes a lightbar, I plan on installing LEDs in the headlight buckets, plus I'd like to add a 4-LED bar to the "grill". I won't need a controller, though, as I'll be using some Futaba CPS-1 units, allowing me to remotely turn each light group on/off from my Tx. ~ More peace, love, laughter, & kindness would make the world a MUCH better place |

I like to buy LEDs with internal resistors so I can hook up directly to 3S, they only cost about a buck each from Digikey. Those buggers are bright and come in 3mm and 5mm, all the right colors too. |

As a newbie to crawling and trucks, I hadn't thought about lighting systems. Thankfully I have an electronics and embedded programming background so I think I will build my own lighting system too. For my LEDs, I buy them in bulk and they come in little plastic cases, top row are 5mm, bottom row 3mm, all sorts of colours in separate sections (some I won't use on the truck but a lot I will).

Plano boxes... They come in a bunch of sizes and shapes. Many have adjustable compartments.

Your method looks pretty good and it's cheap. If you have a local Container Store they are awesome to browse. They aren't cheap, but you can get deals or find similar items online. https://www.containerstore.com |

3D print your own boxes maybe? I just use bags to store the majority of my random parts, those bags get packed away in boxes. I even have bags full of bags lol, I keep the useful ones I get from kits and various parts and try to reuse them. |

| Re: LED Storage That is what I have started working on. Right now my idea is to make bracket to hang on my workbench's peg board that will hold these tape containers so I can stop chasing them around my workbench. Work not withstanding, I should have the printer working by this evening.

Here is what I came up with... The first print I did didn't adhere well to the bed and I had to stop the print about an hour in. This turned out to be a good thing, because I realized I had to modify the design to make it work properly. Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr When the first print failed I tested the tape canisters and realized that they would wobble around, so I added steps... Nice work I've had many prints where I'll see it taking shape and realize I completely forgot something. Its like I get tunnel vision when staring at the design so close. |
