Default Boom Racing Python Servo

Boom Racing has a new servo.

Boom Racing PYTHON BLACK

According to the marketing, Boom Racing has revolutionized servo design by creating the first servo specifically meant for axle mounting. According to my eyes, they just moved the mounting tabs.

624 oz-in is nice and that speed isn’t too bad either.

Do they have one with normal mounting tabs that you’re aware of? A quick google did not look promising.

I don't think so since the whole point of this is the "amazing new mounting technology" but I wouldn't be surprised if there was one eventually.

I like their servo horns, but yeah... I'd be interested in the servo if they come out with one with normal servo mounting tabs.

That mounting tab is odd to say the least.

Boom makes some great stuff like their wheels and some not so great stuff like their tires. It'll be interesting to see how this one fares.

That mounting scheme would be great if there was anything common that it could bolt to, but it's still useless on anything except their axle without an adapter, which completely eliminates its benefit in the first place.

I get annoyed when companies don't list the torque specs at 6.0v and 7.4v. If you don't know exactly how it will perform on a HW 1080, what's even the point??

This raises the height of the servo compared to normal. Boom thinks this is a good thing then? Do they have other great ideas I need to know to steer clear of? On top of that they put the bolts in backwards in their own product shots.

Specs look good, but I wonder if it will hold up. The mounting is very odd since most 1.9 rigs besides the Capra use a CMS. Maybe it is for AR60 style axles in addition to the boom axles.

Jason Tsang said that "optional" adapters would be available to fit other models. Looks like a great servo on paper, but there are several rigs i can think of that the mounting will be annoying with or without an adapter.

I kinda figured they would do this for other axles. I'll stick with normal servos.

Agreed, I could see the benefit of running and AMS servo and having clearance issues between the frame. But that would mean you are building a C1 or C2 kind of rig and I just run CMS at that point. Who knows, hopefully it sells well for them

They really, really limited their sales with this mounting style. It just doesn't make sense even if they do come up with adapters. Who wants to have to spend, I'm guessing, another $15 for a servo adapter that just isn't necessary?
