Default First crawler/trailer, BL or Brushed?

Getting a trial/crawler for fun,no serious climbing.
Its a "entry" level model 1/10th, will Brushed be ok or do I go BL from the start? any info on reasons for each would be great.

Personally I think brushed. It is cheaper and a brushed Holmes Hobbies motor paired with a Hobbywing 1080 is the best solution.

Brushed is fine and it's what I prefer in a typical trail rig to be honest. Brushed is still smoother down low and you can get a great setup like a HobbyWing WP 1080 ESC and a Reedy Radon 16T motor for under $70.

Brushed will generally offer smoother low speed start-up and control for crawling, while still providing enough speed for trailing. A brushed set-up is also less expensive. I recommend going with 3S batteries. You can play with brushless latter on if you stay with the hobby.

I agree, brushed is better. HW1080 $42 and HH Trailmaster Sport 550 $20. You will not find any brushless systems for anywhere close to that low price.

He's a newb so we should let him know the 550 won't fit in every truck.
