Default HW AXE540 2300kv System vs. HH Crawlmaster Pro 16T / HW1080

Ok, I seem to be itching to change things up on the Gen8 AXE...

Would I be gaining anything at all by switching over to a HH Crawlmaster Pro 540 16T / HW1080 versus the HW XeRUN AXE540 2300kv system that came stock in the Gen8 AXE Edition?

This is just an off the cuff question utilizing parts I have here at the house. I am looking for opinions of those that have either run one system or the other, or possibly both and can give a good comparison.

Thanks in advance

You have the time & resources, so JUST DO IT. Use Velcro where needed so it’s not permanent. You’ll end up learning something about your truck every time you disassemble (any part of) it.

Technically, you would have better control throughout the entire RPM range, but I doubt you would notice for scale comp and trailing. You know the AXE combo has very nice control already. Not to mention it will have almost 40% (ish) more wheel speed. I still love brushed motors for dedicated comp/pro rigs no question. But scaling and trailing, brushless is plenty controllable, but lots more fun

I vote for the brushed system. Brush less is new to me and so far I dont like it too much. I have 2 sensorless 3360 17.5T, a sensored 13.5T (drift) and a sensorless 280 in my mini T. I just cant stand there acceleration rate. They all just RAMP so fast and I dont know if its the acceleration rate or the higher RPM they can achieve. But I do not like it much. Well, I like it in my drift RC with the sensored brushless. But cant stand it on my crawlers, trail trucks or buggy. Its just so unpredictable to me throttle control wise.

Brushless feels like a 4 banger motor with a 12K RPM limit making 550HP. Where as brushed feels like a big block V8 making 450HP from low RPM.

Maybe Im crazy. But I wont be doing brushless again. Unless its a drift or street car.
