Default Fail safe/cut off for RC Winch?

Hey All,

I have built a winch by using a servo that I have modified to rotate continuously.
I want to add a fail safe/cut off to stop the line breaking from over retrieving the winch.

Any help on how to do this please?

As far as I know, nothing like that in our scale really exists. For the most part you'd need the power to the servo to run through a current limiter, as soon as the current spiked the circuit would shot off. Honestly, it sounds like you just have the wrong setup for a winch.

Yep I dont think that exists, the Winch fail safe is you the end user.
If you were able to come up with some sort of cut off who's to say it will work well? I could see it being hard to differentiate between when the servo is overdoing it vs just working hard as intended, it may just cut out when you dont want it to. Thats all speculation though.

Do the set it up without the winch hook attached to be safe. Label your radio whats in and whats out and just pay attention when using it and try not to hit the winch buttons on accident.
Pulling in the line is a bit of an art in my experience when you get close stop holding down the button and give it some quick presses to get the last bit tight. Seems to me like theres a slight delay when releasing the button to when the winch stops so just get used to how the winch reacts to that and how to control it.

If your line is failing before your winch, you have the wrong line, much like it is in 1:1.

If I am reading his post correctly, the winch has no control on it, when powered it automatically reels in. He is looking for a way to automatically stop it.
