Default 30-40A ESC With Instant Reverse

Non-crawler project...

I have installed power jacks onto my King Hauler's trailer, but the mechanism for controlling them is kind of cool, but for the most part, and pain in the butt. So, I am going to install an ESC on the trailer to control the jacks. My go-to ESC for winches is a HW1060, but that it WAY overkill for this project. The next step down is the HW1625, but from what I can tell, has a double-clutch reverse. Anyone know of a small ESC (30-40A) with an instant reverse?

What about one of the 1/24 crawlers?

A hobby wing 1060 is hard to beat for $22

I use one in my wifes rig, and it works great even on 3s.... Your project it might be too big.

Another option may be a Brushed airplane esc, though they are getting harder and harder to find. and most do not have reverse.

This apparently can be set for braking or no... for $10 might be good to experiment with:

The only ones I can find have integrated RXs and are about the size of a 1060.

A 1060 is too large for this project, considering I'll need five of then packed into a fairly small space.

I did have a crazy thought, and come to find out, I am not the first...

When I make servo winches I gut the controller out of it, and wire the motor directly to a 1060. Well, the controller is basically just a feedback ESC with no BEC. Drop a couple 2k ohm resistors where the pot goes, and it should give me the functionality I am looking for in a tiny package. I'll be using a DX6e 6-ch RX, and I will power it with a 20A external BEC.

Yup...

The truck this thing attaches to uses a proprietary system to control it. Basically, the crane unit has five motor controllers in it. The controller module has a standard receiver plug, but it does not receive standard receiver commands. This is the manufacture's way of controlling five things on one channel. More or less, without the radio this goes with, it is just a pretty paperweight unless it is modified. Also, this crane is horribly under-powered, and horribly slow. I am hoping my mods with change that.
