That ESC looks very nice!
The BEC is a good thing to have.

Any chance of putting a crawler firmware on it?

Can the flycolor esc be flashed with the AM32 using the Arduino?

you would need a ST-link and I don't know what bootloader or target you would need. So probably it can use AM32 but there is trial and error to flash it. you just need to try all the possible combinations. There are about 20 of them.

Could you tell me a 6s capable esc that I can “easily” flash AM32 using the Arduino?

You also need to load a bootloader which requires the ST-link. I don't know of an esc you can flash with just an Arduino yet.

SucceX-E 45A Slick 2-6S BLHeli_32 Dshot600 ESC Single $15.99
SucceX 55A Slick 2-6S BLHeli_32 Dshot600 ESC $23.99
SucceX X80A 2-8S BLHeli_32 Dshot1200 X-Class ESC Single $49.99 not tested but should work.
Airbot Wraith32 V2 BLHeli32 35A ESC $12.99
Airbot Wraith32 V1.1 35A Blheli_32 32bit ESC 2-6s $15
Airbot Wraith32 Metal V2 BLheli_32 ESC 65A 2-6S $50? if you can find one...

These are the ones I have purchased and used, so they have full bins in my google drive or you can make them yourself.

The Iflight esc's use the PB4 Bootloader and the IFLIGHT target
The Wraith32 esc's use the PA2 Bootloader MP6531 or Wraith Target

Taken from the table of supported hardware here https://github.com/AlkaMotors/AM32-M...orted-Hardware

I have made a new tutorial that is a bit more serious and possibly less confusing here https://github.com/AlkaMotors/AM32-M...e-ESC-Tutorial

Here is what he got Flycolor Francy BLHeli_32 20A/30A/40A/50A 3-6S Dshot ESC w/ LED only 20A and 40A are in stock ATM

Óscar vh is not running the AM32 firmware in the video so his slow crawl is not as good. As you can see it is still pretty good and slow though.

Drag brake is not as good as a brushed motor IMO. To gain a powered drag bake that will hold better will cause the motor to buzz like a servo in the examples I have seen, and has not been implemented on these esc's that I have seen.

Pair this with a direct power Holmes Hobbies servo and you are good to go with out all the hassle of programming AM32.

would it be possible to use AM32 in this esc? How do you see it friend?

Probably but it would be trial and error to get the right bootloader and target. Do you have a good picture of the board? I can not tell what is going on or where the traces go under the sticker.

Re: Silent outrunner and ESC for less then $60

I think it is pb4 bootloader, so start with that and just try different targets till it works, I can't tell which pads are swd or swc. so you need to trace them with an continuity tester / multimeter.

This also lets you update the firmware (not with installing the bootloader) using the receiver plug instead of having to use the ST-Link.

I ordered 3 35A Wraith32 - 32bit BLHELI ESC"s a 2 pack of st links, then realized Arduino is simpler so I ordered the 3 pack. Thanks for the link! So I'm kind of not super impressed with my Holmes Crawlmaster mini v1 and that led me here.

Has anyone dabbled into one yet?

You need to have the st links, to install this firmware. The Arduino is for updating the firmware and adjusting the settings.

I don't have a crawlmaster, but I have one custom esc that uses the same stspin chip. The stspin chips (used in the crawlmaster) and stg071 chips do a better job at reading the position of the motor then the stf051 chips used in the Wraith32 and other quadcopter esc's running blheli32. So the crawlmaster will probably run better then am32 on the stf051 chips . Plus Holmes Hobbies has tuned them to work with his motors specifically. Where am32 is not really tuned out of the box to work with any specific motor.

I think the major difference between this and the crawlmaster is with am32 you will probably notice the change from sine to trap at around 10% throttle more on am32. it shows up as a jump in speed if it is not tuned properly, which I dont really know how to do. But with am32 you can adjust the settings with an Arduino and you have access to the full firmware and can tweak any of it, provided you know how to code.

@Voodoobrew,

It seems, there is a new version of AM32. 1.74. Can you somehow, put the configuration that you did, for a 1800kv motor? i want to write the same config but on 1.74 version :)

You mean add the Dixie startup tune to the wraith partial file?

Otherwise all of the configurations can be done with an Arduino or flight controller and am32 configuration utility.

Or are you asking for a complete file you can upload with just the ST-link, Because the benefits of most of the old firmware to the new firmware is what you can do with the Configuration tool, since I leave the brakes at 100% and haven't played with the sine startup slider not much will change unless you have arming issues.

It is really worth it to get an Arduino or flight controller to be able to adjust these things yourself. There are too many variables for me to change and make files for.

Or you can upload 1.74.bin to 0x08001000 with the ST-link and all the configurations in the EEPROM will remain the same as the ones I made before. You will only loose the Dixie start tone.

Re: Silent outrunner and ESC for less then $60

I uploaded the Iflight and wraith32 targets with the dixie startup tune I will add all the targets for 1.74 into a 1.74 folder, and sort them by version Leaving a full bin in the main directory. Making the full bins later.

Edit: Full Bins are up in my google drive, I only made them for 1460kv.
The main reason for only doing 1460kv is because it would take thousands files to cover all the possible configurations.
This is why there is a configuration utility that connects to an Arduino. Unless you are using a Spektrum surface receiver for example you endpoints will probably be different then mine. Or you might want to have a different throttle curve, or less brake....

If you dont like the dixie startup tone you can get the default sound here and update it with the Configuration utility

Re: Silent outrunner and ESC for less then $60

I'm trying this now using iFlight 55A and Holmes Revolver 1800kv. Any advice on the ballpark settings for this combo? With the default settings (the 1.74 firmware from github) the esc getting hot to the touch quite easily, and I'm still testing it on the table and inside the house, the gearbox is 3 gears, spur 87 pinion 17, and the axle is AR45 with OD gears at front portal. Is it because of the motor kv is to high for this esc (I read that the limit is 1400kv) or this is something that can be adjusted.
Another thing, what is the difference between the file in your google drive 1.74 Dixie Partial folder, IFLIGHT_1.74-Dixie_PARTIAL.bin IFLIGHT_1.74.bin and IFLIGHT_1.74.hex, and which one should I flash with the config tool.
Sorry for a newb questions.
