Default Castle Cobra 8 - Anyone?

Has anyone tried one of these out with their outrunner? I'm curious as to if they are any quieter than say the Copperhead.

Thanks.

My guess would be no. It uses cryo drive like the SW4 used and the SW4 is super loud especially with outrunners. Every Castle ESC I've experienced has the classic Castle whine.
I dont see anything about a quiet mode in the manual: https://www.castlecreations.com/img/...Digital%20.pdf

The other thing is this ESC is not currently running sensorless motors very well:

Castle is aware of the issue and say they are working on new firmware to address this.

I completely agree. I’ve run outrunners with most of the Castle escs. All were annoying, but the SW4 was noticeably louder than any of the others.

Ok, follow-up dumb question; does using a larger ESC make a difference? SW versus Mamba Monster X? Is there any logic to a larger ESC running quieter? I'm a tire / suspension guy, I know zip all about ESC's.

When I want a quiet ESC for an outrunner I go for the HH crawlmaster mini ESCs, they're tiny in comparison. So far I've tried the V1 and V2 so far and no complaints, quiet and smooth. These do have some limitations so definitely look over the specs:

I really don't like bashing Holmes, as they do provide good products, lots of info and generally he and co are great people.

That said, the price of the ESC is well over double what you can find it on AliExpress for, and it's the same manufacturer and software for it.
