Default Difficulty of installing rear steer on TQ3

How hard is it to transform the TQ3 to have rear steer. I see the Crawler Store sells a kit. I can solder, but have some issues, when soldering to small electronic boards. So before I buy it and take the controller apart, wanted to see the difficulty level.

The easiest way i know, for me atleast, is to take a 5k pot from a servo, doesnt mattery what kind just as long as its 5k, and remember which wire was in the middle of your reverse switch on your tq3,and make sure you solder it onto the middle of the pot, it only matters that you keep the middle wire in middle, because you can always reverse the channel. then i usually just take the servo gear that goes on the pot normally and glue it on there, then screw on a servo horn and i'm done! It's an easy way to have proportional rear steer. Hope this helps.

if all you are doing is gonna put an on/off/on switch from Radio Shack in it to have rear steer, I would rate the difficulty a 3 outta 10

If you can solder your motor on, you can perform this install. Terminals are pretty big.

It's super easy to do. Open up your TQ3.. Take out the 3rd Switch. Cut the wires off. Making sure which order they where in before hand. Now Solder them back on the new switch the same way. Thats it. No soldering on Elec. boards or anything like that.

What's wrong with the red switch that's already on the tq3? Is that a switch or just a push-down lever?

Can a tq2 have a switch added for a winch?

The red switch already in the tq3 is a 2 position switch.

You want a 3 position switch for left/center/right.

Although, the momentary push buttons are much better.
