Everything is insulated from each other right? You could possibly have a defective MM. You should try it with a brushed motor and see if it gets hot. Do you have a temp gun?

yeah i have everything wrapped either with the black rubber shrink stuff or electrical tape. i will try it with a brushed. i am about to put the pede in and the brushed motor with the mamba maxx to see if it may be that but that still would explain the motor and the r2 getting hot would it?

If the ESC is not commutating properly, the motor will heat up to.

Dumb question here, but if you take the pinion off does your rig roll absolutely free? Any binding or extreme driveshaft angles? Are your wheel nuts too tight by chance?

My MM and crawlmaster was getting too hot to touch at first. I had my gear mesh TOO tight and it was putting it in a bind from startup. Used the paper method to set mesh and all is good
