Default Rooster crawler question

Can some one tell me how the drag brake works on the crawler? I was thinking about getting one for a trail/light crawler rig. I am wondering if I was in trail mode with a 27t motor at full throttle and let off will the drag brake lock up the wheels? If so can it be deactivated? Thanks Bill

On the new Rooster Crawler it has 2 modes on it. One for brushed, and one for brushless. Either mode lets you turn off drag brake or have it on, you choose.

Perfect just wanted to be sure. Most of my driving will be trail but I will want to play on the rocks sometimes.

Sorry, the Rooster Crawler is a brushed only ESC, it only has 2 motor wires.

The Novak "Goat" is the new one that will go both ways, but it will only run a sensored brushless motor, not that sensored is a bad thing. Sounds very promising.

The Rooster Crawler does have two profiles, but neither of them include brushless motors or effect the drag brake. One turns off the Lipo cutoff, the other turns on the Lipo cutoff. Drag brake is always on.

And since Novak says the ESC can handle a 27 turn motor, then I'd say you're good to go. And my guess is that you won't exactly lock up the tires when you let off, but the drag brake will still be very strong.

I guess if you're looking to disable the drag brake, another speed controller would be a better choice, like the ever so popular Mamba Max.

Right I meant to say LiPo and NICD/ NIMH profiles, not brushed and brushless. Thx 4 that!!

Hummm. Does anyone have one of these? I would like to know for sure as I have read how strong the drag brake is.

anybody running one of these esc's on a Clod yet?? I am running 2 55t motors and I suspect the new Rooster can handle the 2 motors. I guess I will find out real quick for myself, but I was just curious at the same time.

I'm running a pair of them on my Clod . I'm running them on 7 cells with a 8 tooth pinion gears & 45 turn lathes . My rig is right at 10 lbs . the drag brake is great and yes it will slide the tires . not sure a single rooster would but with 2 of them it is great . I have ran a Mamba Max (brushed)on the same rig the drag brake was not as good (but again it was a single Mamba Max)

I am only going to run one. Did you Y connect 2 of them or do you use a stick radio for the front and rear dig thing?? I do not think I could learn on a stick radio again, it is a pistol grip for me foreva!

Yes the drag brake is strong. On flat ground both a Super and a 2.2 the wheels will lock up when you completely let of the throttle, your rig will skid to a stop on a low traction surface. On a down hill section when you let of the throttle the 2.2 will flip over forward if you are carring speed, the Super may (but probably won't) flip. It's all about throttle control. Master the throttle and you will love the Rooster Crawler Edition.

DUDE, The Rooster CE (crawler edition) will run 2 55t motors just fine.

I've got one on my 2.2, and I love the way it works. The drag brake is so strong on my setup(45t integy, 15/96 gearing, WK tranny, WK axles)....at our last GTG I had to throttle on pretty hard to clear a gate, and being new to the ESC I let off the throttle completely right after I cleared the gate and the drag brake front flipped the truck onto the roof, a little more throttle and I might've done a complete endo back onto the wheels.

4 channel stick , it's not hard to learn . I can mix them to run together or if I need to control each one just flip a switch .
