| IT'S ON... Addict's T1E Rockshow build
After admiring TLTRyan and BILLYGOATS builds. I decided a T1E Rockshow would be my next comp build. After a few months of Jonesin' the little lady suprised me with a new chassis for our anniversary ITS ON BABY I would like to take this opportunity to thank Silas @ T1E, Rockshow,TLTRyan, BILLYGOAT, and the rest of the T1E crew for the inspiration & ideas. Jarod @ Jpcustomrcs.com for supplies/service, and Doug (JeepinDoug) for the killer little products that make a build go smoother MY INGREDIENTS: T1E Rockshow chassis Berg axles (clocked 20* front, 30* rear) JP Customs lock-outs modded YR 90mm shocks custom Delrin links KK tie rod DNA Assasins HB Rovers or PL Chisels CC Sidewinder/ CC BEC 45t lathes (cut & sprung) 5995tg Futaba s3114 dig servo/Rat shack switches 1450Mah 3s Zippys bound to my 3R DOIN' WORK SON I added a little spice to an already HOT chassis.... Took 1/4" square delrin and cut some chassis separators. The I drilled and tapped some 3mm holes to mount my body panels to since the Rockshow is a small package, stuffing in all my electos & a lipo is gonna' be a challenge. A removable electonic/dig tray is just what the DR. ordered Remove 2 button heads and out it comes thru the front/rear window. After ordering a couple of JeepinDougs link bushings (get some!Link Drill Bushing) I've been fabbin' links like a maniac For lowers I made up some 20* bents for the front and 30* bents for the rear using 5/16" stock & revo ends. I'm also using the off-set Axial ends on the KK tie rod. They help tuck it in a little closer, even after the knuckle mod Ive been running my axles un-clocked for a while. Like everyone else I was clocking the rear with longer uppers, but didn't like what the rotated shock/link mounts where doing to my geometry/WB. Plus the front was hanging too low for my liking. Again JeepinDoug to the rescue The ultimate clocker (get yours!Berg Clocking Fixture, $20) was a BREEZE to use and the results speak for themselves. My un-clocked axles after using Dougs ultimate clocker 20 degree front 30 degree rear While I was at it, I replaced the ragged AE film I've been runnin' for some of CRWLER1's sweet ass Berg skids (get some!http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=162244) These things are STOUT, The adhesive is spot on, and they should last waaaay longer than the AE film. I had to get to a decent stopping point for the night, and what better place to stop than.... ROLLER BABY so far soo good I'm workin' on finishing the paint on my panels, and I'll wire her up tomorrow I was wanting to use some of JRH's dig switches but I dont think I'll have room for these MONSTERS Here's a comparison pic with a Rat shack, McMaster-Carr, and HH dig switch MORE TO COME SOON.... |

Thanks Bro Here is a shot before I trim them down and round the corners. I used .060 lexan to hold up on the rocks a little longer. I didn't realize how thick .060 really was 'till I had it in hand. With a heat gun it was workable and they ended up lookin' decent. Plus they are virtually bullet proof The green skulls are under the paint. Transfers, kinda like a temporary tattoo, that slide on to the backside of your body before you paint. Easy & cheap. I've been up since 5am workin' on my wiring (Freakin' OCD, thats obsessive-crawler-disorder). I've almost got it cleaned up enough to let it rest.... The electo/dig tray is gonna work out nice. Unplug the steering servo & motors, remove the 2 button-heads holding the tray in the rig, and presto out comes all the electronics Pictures are uploading..... Very cool... I like the panels.... I use .040 most the time and .030 when I can get it, and cutting the .030 is even a bit hard with lexan sissors... |

They are certainly no where near the killer sh*t you spray, but my painting skills are novice at best With the transfers I was able to pull off a custom look with no problems. Airbrushes just hate me for some reason:-(

I finished up my wiring, all mounted up on the tray Slide the tray in to the chassis, plug in the steering servo + motors, plug in the lipo and your in B'ness I went with a murdered out wiring theme as much as possible, covered and hid where I could. BACK IN BLACK White will NEVER be my new black |

Got her all together, bound and EPAs set A few finished pics... Here is a decent shot of what clocking your axles does for you Notice the even shock/link mounts. I was skeptical at first. After seeing the results, even with no wheel time yet, it's gonna be a BIG plus. IMO Sorry 'bout the haze in the photos. I didn't realize it when I was shooting but my 4 year old son had finger funked my lens all up. eeeewwww.... Going to run to my LHS for a few odds & ends. While I'm there I will get a little wheel time, and a few pics of the Rockshow on the rocks outside. Good on ya. Last edited by RockAddict75; 03-13-2009 at 04:36 PM.

nice work, very clean. I like the way the lower links look, did you buy them or make them yourself?

I got in a little wheel time yesterday and all I can say is WOW This set up is spot on! Holds lines as well or better than any other chassis I've run, plus I can fit thru the tightest of spots without a body hanging me up I'M FREAKIN' LOVING THE ROCKSHOW uploading some pics now.....

Here are some shots from the creek behind my house Decent terrain, a mixture of jagged, smooth, & shelf rock. This chassis is SWEET. It is very predictable and is point & drive Rollover is better than my "bodied" rigs. I'm runnnig a 50/50 sprung set-up for the first time and lovin' it. I have 90mm shocks with a 3/4'' medium internal spring, and my usual spring rates on the bodies. This limits the shock length down to 3 3/8'', but instead of being at the end of the stroke at rest. The shocks have about 5/16 of an inch of outward travel when the rig "pulls away". This seems to help keep the tires planted and delivering torque in STEEP climbs She looks killer on the rocks If I do say so myself The Rockshow is so dialed she will even climb ICE I'm gonna' mount up some PL Chisels and get back out this afternoon to do a little testing of my own. It's going to take a lot to pull me away from runnin' the white Rovers. I've only heard good things about the Chizzys, so we'll see I'll take a few shots and post up my impressions of the new shoes |
