I'm getting there with the roller. I've got it in the jig now, and I've done a few things with the chassis to make it a little better IMO. Thanks for the positive comments on it though, hopefully CrawlerX will have them out shortly so everyone can get there hands on them

Cheers

I saw this chassis on the mrc section a while ago and liked the center ridge which should really give rollover another deminsion. My only question is it heavy? When you get a rig weight in let us know would you?

Rick, it doesn't 'feel' heavy, but I can easy get a weight for you.

looking good there, you have quite a steep rake for the 'screen' but then a great rollover option with that 'spinal' ridge running through the roof. Will be great to see this evolve as you build it up. Great to see another chassis out there esp with a different approach

Thanks for the comments

My only 'problem' as such I've found with it needs quite short shocks. For about 3" clearance on a berg, it seems to only need around a little over a 3" shock. So it looks like I might be on the hunt for new shocks. Either that or get some new shock bodies for these SCX10 shocks, and find an equivalent, but shorter shaft. With that make some shorter shocks. While it's not really a major problem, it just means that most of the 'common' shocks currently used now won't work that well.

I hope to get more pictures up today, so look out for more

Cheers

For those interested the weight of the chassis as pictured above (no skid and minimal hardware) is right around 100grams. Once it's gets a skid and whatnot this might increase to around 120-150grams. This is about the same as a standard BJv4.

Well it's about time I got some more (not better though sorry) pictures up. Plus a little work I got done today. Pictures should explain most of it, but basically I got a servo mount started and the tubes got a little more work. Don't mind the miss matched links, they are just whatever I could find in the toolbox. Also does anyone know of a shock about the same diameter and whatnot as the SCX10 ones, but about 3" long?

Looks great! Pro Line Power Stroke shocks are thin and about that long.

Thanks Proline list them as 90-95mm, which is about the same as the SCX10 shocks on there. Something around 80mm would be perfect.

Just read this and measured mine again... 3.5" exactly. If I recall... they come with 3 different sized rod ends so you have a little adjustability. I'll shoot a pic in a minute

I can't seem to find any short small diameter shocks. Well with decent size shafts anyway. I might just have to go with my plan of lathing down a set of SCX10 shock bodies and shafts. Shortening the shaft and recutting the e clip grooves without damaging the Ti coating would be interesting though.

Thanks

That chassis is dope. How is the topper pieces secured to each other? Are they notched and indexed to locate them?

Correct, apart from the bolts that hold the cab to the chassis, the rest is just all tabs and notches. It is very solid with all the bolts in, I was quite impressed when I got it, CrawlerX did an excellent job on it to say the least.

Very cool. Such an innovative way to bring more 3d dimension to flat pieces.
