Moving back home to Sumter County (Bushnell) and looking forward to heading out to some GTG's. Anyone do any crawling in the central part of FL? What Hobby shops do you guys use? Only one I remember is the one in Wildwood that was mainly boats and plains.

NewRed Hobbies and RRW in the Ocala area hold comps regularly. Most "free" g2g's that I know of happen in Lakeland and in Sanford, the occasional one in Oviedo. There is also a stellar course in Miramar and a new course in Lake County being put together by some of the best course builders in Florida. In order to play "freely" at NewReds or RRW you have to pay the practice fee.. |

Our club has a new crawler course opening this Sunday. It's in Tampa just a few minutes from the Hard Rock casino.

Ok cool thanks for the info guys. Glad to see there are places to crawl at. I was added the other day to the FSTR Fasebook page and seen a couple post on new scaler courses being built. I just started to gather parts for my crawler that's been sitting for awhile now and was wondering with the different terrain what tires do you guys run. Here we have a lot more rock and almost anything soft will do fine. I know the Proline Swampers worked the best and a lot of guys run them but not sure how they would do in the dirt and little rock in Fl?

Most guys run swampers, Pitbulls or IROKs.... Swampers are better in mud, bulls on the rocks and Iroks in sand and most other things..... Also, the rock down here is much more jagged and unsymetrical..... lots of voids to hold sand and mud. |
