| Project FRANKENSTEIN "FRANKY"
I live in ALASKA and we get lots of snow and This is something I have been wanting to try for awhile, so when the 4x4 slash came out it got super easy plug and play. I had a slash and my wife had a slash both had vxl systems so thats where the trannys and power plants came from. From there the only parts bought were slash 4x4 front hubs , hub carriers ,steering bellcranks, drivelines and axles. Plus 2.8 proline desperado wheels and sandpaw paddles. The rest of the parts came out my parts box or I made what I needed I still need to paint the body but its been to cold outside to paint, so I will use my wifes old bug body for now. Heres a list of some of the other parts I used. Traxxas rustler upper chassis Traxxas slash 2wd front skid with the the steering post on it aluminum nitro stamped rear a arms because I had them but you could use slash 4x4 front a arms. 1/16 aluminum plate 1/16x3/4 aluminum angle 1/8x2in flat bar 1/4 brakeline 1/2in hdpe plastic 1/8in hdpe plastic I took the 1/2in hdpe and cut it as close to 30 degrees as I could by hand to put under the tranny to adjust for the anti squat. Then I took mounted the front tranny to the 1/8 x 2in aluminum flat bar then found my wheel base then mounted the rear tranny. Then I took the 1/16 aluminum plate and made the tub. I used the 2wd slash front skid plate to hold the steering bellcranks and rustler upper chassis plate to hold the steering servo and to lock the bellcranks in place. Then I took the 1/16 x3/4 aluminum angle and used it to help hold the batteries in place and stiffen the chassis. And the 1/4in brakeline to help stiffen the shock towers. Heres some pics for now will get more soon |

Nice work . The only thing I would worry about is that chassis filling up with sand or snow unless you have a cover for it.

I like the thinking-out of-the-box idea. Is it fast with 2 motors? What size batteries are you using? Lastly, how do those tires hold up with ballooning or not tearing apart?

| Re: Project FRANKENSTEIN "FRANKY" Thank you. Yes it is faster and the nice thing about 2 motors is you can gear the front to go faster then the rear so it helps pull the truck around corners and up hills. I'm using 2 5000 2 cell 30c-40c lipos. The tires are working great they balloon some, but they seem to be tough enough. Plus the width helps it float on the snow.
