well this all depends on what your using it for.. i just found this out the hard way this weekend... I use 3 of these in my ax10 crawler Turnigy 500mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack they work great.. are only 20c rating but my crawler does great... however... my FOFF I purchased a Turnigy nano-tech 1300mAh 3S 45~90C Lipo Pack (USA Warehouse) well my son broke the plug off while we were out so couldnt use it.. well having a dean on everything... i just used 2 of the 500mah 20c batteries in parallel. well turns out I burned out one of them.. it went puff and is no good..so finding out now that I cannot use these batteries for this car!!!! for my micro's have ZIPPY Compact 350mAh 2S 25C Lipo Pack and zippy 180mah 2s |

so I am in your boat.. trying to figure it out.. I am hearing a higher mah can result in a lower C rating.. but im thinking batteries are not that expensive.. so go for a high C rating and also make sure it is 2000mah or greater.. | |

ive been running all turnigies in helicopters and planes, 3-6s batteries. what ive found is mah(capicity) has little to do with disscharge. however i have found discharge rate has everything to do with power ive also found that runnig bateries to low will kill them fast. i was killing lipos faster then i was burning nitro fuel there for awhile. i try and buy all 30 and higher discharge rated turnigys seems 20s are puffing fiarly easy on the rc cars and 40s are doing very well. if the battery doesnt like whats going on it puff or so heat |

You have to remember that in Foff we are not on full throttle all the time. I would suggest trying out the batteries you have but keep and eye on the battery and the discharge rate. Do you have a esc with a low voltage cut off? If not you might want to get a lv alarm. This will tell you when you get towards the end of the pack without puffing it. This goes with all vehicles, esc's and batteries. |

I run Hyperion G3 3300mah 45-90c 3s, and some Gens ace 2600mah 55c 3s, I've run each one on my FOFF rigs at least 30 times, no puff barely warm, killed esc and motor but the packs held up great, get the highest C rating and the biggest mah you can fit. |

I had a few g3 batts and turnigies just in my opinion. The golden rule is to never burn more then 80% of the batteries capacity. Over discharge is the number killer of lipos |

| Re: Battery choice On like the traxxas vxl will the low voltage cut off stop the discharge at a good point? Or should it never reach low voltage cut off

I run relatively small 3s 1300mah, cheap 20C versions tended to puff in my old foff, but not in my crawler. Nano techs at 50C don't puff, but get warm. New foff has 4s 2200mah 90C. Only a couple of shakedown runs (then repairs), but they dont get warm at all I set the cutoff voltage at 3.2 on the foff to protect the batteries, but on the 1/8 buggy i raced i would set it to 3.0 volts just to get more run time. |

i have my low voltage cut off set at 3.5 if i run to the cut off im putting back between 1500-1700 of a 2200 pack. i think this is about perfect. sometimes with lvc set high like i have i can hit it even at mid charged pack due to voltage sag under load. i run 40c 2200 4s turnigys and i they run cool i have had some 20c discharge puff and get warm but i quite buying batteries less then 30c and i try and stay with 40c for the power and cool running and they also often have 5c charge rateing wich means i an feed them a faster charge of 11 amps. though i normaly charge them at 7 or 8 depending on my mood. my charger is only a 10 amp charger but these fast charge batteries are about 12-15 minute charge time depending on amount of capacity burned. when i started flying helicopters i was burning through lipos faster then my nitro bird burn fuel |

I dont think you can change the voltage cut off, only change whether LVC is on or off. How to program, set voltage cutoff, for Traxxas Velineon - YouTube |
