I didn't do so well but I can't blame it on the R1.
But I did figure out a few things about it's setup.
I had mine set with way too much articulation as well as ride height.
So I moved the front shock back to it's stock mount and replaced the shocks with Losi shocks. I set them up so the rig rides lower and has less travel. I also added a set of Rovers. Now it's a lot more predictable and doesn't get all twisted when it gets caught is a hole.
I'm going to comp it again either tomorrow or next Wednesday and I'll see how it and me improves.
Here's a photo of the latest setup.

with my creeper i have tons of flex and find it easier to predict its crawling. Another option for tires would be the Xlocks since they are only 2" vs Rovers 2.25 width. If u stay on the rovers make sure to get the Nova Ark foams for them

That's cool if it works for you. It does not on my rig. I'm learning from some very skilled drivers and this is how they run their rigs and they are kicking some but in comps here in California. Look at the new Bergs that do not have any front suspension. There's guys locking out their front suspension on AX10s and they are clearing things you would think are not possible. One of the best scores from the Weds. nite comp I was at was done on an AX10 with no front shocks..Just fully locked out fronts.
Guess we have to figure out what works the best for our own styles and courses.

Yea true, on different driving styles and set-ups. The R1 is looking sick and keep up the good work, look forward to seeing more pics and some vids as well to get a better idea of how these buggies do.

Bergs are MOA vs Shafty so they can get away with no flex I think.

One of the best performing rigs was an Ax10 with no front shocks just bars locking it. I'm not locking my suspension yet, but I'm intrigued.

Hmmm interesting... cause coming from the rock crawling world of Jeeps, here, it surprises me that no front shocks worked for him.

I added Ripper's links and skid plate. It's a nice upgrade.
The geometry is improved due to running the bottoms on the inside.
Did a comp today and didn't get the links hung on anything. The rig was very stable and felt like I had the better control.
It was my best finish so far.
