| Norcal's R1 Build
I've been drooling over these for awhile now so I thought I'd take the plunge and build one of these. Thanks to CKRCCRawlers for offering a special on these and getting it to me over night. Last night I got to the point where I have the axles, tranny and cage finished. I'm going to try and finish it up today. I am still waiting on a 2.4 system, high links and shock braces. If all goes well I'm going to run it at a comp on Sunday. I'll post more as I get more done today. |

I was able to finish it up this evening. I didn't build up the wheels and tires yet but I used the FlatIrons from my other rig. I gave it a test run on my backyard crawling course and it pulled the hardest lines right away. I'm very impressed with how it crawled with minimal tuning. Here's a few photos. |

| Sic I have one and a ton of parts waiting for me one of these days. I'm having way to much fun w/ my MRC @ the moment. I work on remote Radar sites and can only carry so much I will build it later on this season and post some pics. , and again very nice rig and choice of colors.

Sick!!! any pics or vids of it crawling the course, curious to see it's flex since debating about getting one. Some of the pics & vids I've seen so far seem like theres not enough travel for the crawling side, without lifting the tires all the time. Chris |

Here's a few photos with the stock tires. I find the stock tires are to hard and stiff compared to my Flat Irons. The stockers are sliding off the rocks where the Irons stick. I have 6oz. in the fronts and 3 in the rear. I'm going to go back to the Irons later. I'm also getting a bit of TT. What are you guys doing to counteract this.? To Chris, it does have nice travel and flex to it. I'm planning on trying it at a comp this weekend. |

Ahhh ok, well good luck at the comp and look forward to hearing or seeing how it does. I'm trying to debate about selling my comp ready Creeper for one of these, they definately look sick and seems like some great potential. Chris |

Hey Chris how do you like your Rovers? I'm thinking about trying a set of the extra softs on this rig. |

| Get both. I love my R1 but in my opinion the Creeper smokes the R1 as far as comp crawling, even with no dig on my creeper and full dig system on my R1. (both with white rovers) Don't get me wrong, the R1 is by far my fave RC. It is so much fun!! I am going to remove the dig and go back to the rock racing style of driving with it.

I ended up moving the top front shock mounts back behind the original shock mounts. This seems to give me more articulation and flex. Testing it, it feels like the rig is smoother and getting up and over harder lines. Here's a few photos of it in my backyard course. |

Looks good and with moving the shocks back a position, the flex looks even better. Now just need some vids to see this bad boy in action. what rims are those... they look sweet Last edited by snwchris; 08-07-2010 at 03:35 PM. |
