Hey guys, i want to build an R1 that can go fast and still do a little bit of crawling too. would like to be able to crawl over stuff and then blast down the trail..what would be a good motor/esc combo for this?

I am using a Mamba Max speed control and a Venom 21 turn off road motor. It goes pretty fast but has less torque and is not good for rock crawling at all. Plus I have the dig unit installed. I just ordered a Holmes Hobbies 35turn rock crawling motor due to peoples comments here on this forum. I know it won't go as fast, but hopefully there will be a balance of speed and crawling ability. We shall soon see.

mm on a 35t hand wound tekin works good, has the wheel speed and crawls really good the tekin produces bottom end power as well

I've got a Tekin 35T which seems like a good balance but I've also ordered 9T and 16T pinion for when I want to go a lot slower or faster.

I use the Novak Goat 3S, and Novak Ballistic Motor 21.5T, I am very satisfied. |
