| R1 Knuckle-mod
OK. So I've had an R1 for a while now and had 4WS, but recently removed it because I didn't really like it. This caused a problem and my turning radius was greatly reduced. I started looking at the aluminum knuckles and saw they were crashing into the portal housing. I probably could have investigated high knuckles, but didn't want to spend any money on it. Then I figured I'd just get the grinder out to see what I could do to help the situation. This is what happened! Not sure how much more angle I achieved (forgot to measure) but now the knuckles do not interfere with the housing at all. Now it limits on the servo throw. Marked off some area that was interfering with the housing on both knuckles. This is after I ground down the area. |

No problem. You don't need to wait for 4WS, but if you do with 4WS this thing would probably turn on a dime.

Did the same thing to my r1 but even removed the bolt it was close to an shaved that to 3 bolts held it just fine, the high steer knuckles are the ticket! but ya still gotta grind some, not as much.

I read somewhere here that the RC4WD Trex 60 axle knuckles are a direct fit on the GMade portals. If that is true, then RC4WD makes "high clearance" aluminum Trex knuckles. High Clearance Knuckles T-Rex 60 |

For me, the limiting factor is the tie rod hitting the diff cover.
