Default Crawlorado719 GMade Sawback Build

Been waiting for this GMade scale crawler. I'm no expert by any means, but I do know how to decipher good from bad lol. Anyway I got the Sawback home and after everyone was in bed, it was build time.

Day I got it...

Quality was alright not the best, but not Tyco. The plastic used is somewhat flimsy and the hardware is lame because it's all Phillips head. The steel rails are nice and rigid along with the mounting of the leafs and axles. The Sawback seems to be a "cheaper" way to get into a scale rig like the RC4WD rigs ie: Mohave and Glenalde $400+. The big things for me where the plastic gears in the transmission and soft looking metal ring and pinion..other than that it's cool looking and fun to build. It's not a Basher by any means so I would not pick this up for JR's Xmas present.

Not much really..you can "tune" the stiffness with the extra leafs they give you. But I would say 2-2.5'' of travel.

I saw one today. It's bigger than I thought it would be. It's kinda odd to me to set the leaves up like they say but they are tunable he said. Did the axles and trans look beefy enough to take some descent power?

HH 27t TQ master sport and the stock 32p 12t pinion. I would like to eventually put a 35-45t in it..no brushless here

The rig really surprised me...every time I thought "oh it won't make it up that" flick the wheel a little and boom up she went up. I really wanna get it on the dry land..soon tho.

The trans gears are all plastic..unless someone comes out with metal gears and dshafts I don't see it taking brushless power or a good TQ brushed motor in a pinch.

No lol..I didn't wanna get it all wet and dirty cause it's not waterproofed and I didn't feel like cleaning bearings today. Plus it was really cold out and didn't wanna snap any plastic bits just yet...

Thanks man..I tried lol. Given that I'm a semi newb especially when it comes to a "leaf" rig..it turned out all right.

Oooooh 6pt cage!!!! sounds fun. I'll for sure be looking your way soon.
