Default transmission noise

hey

just got my sawback all together and was messing around with it in the house and I thought that the transmission sounded a little noisier then I thought it should.

I've never had a truck with 32 pitch gears so I wasn't sure if that is the cause. I've played around with the gear mesh on the motor, took grease out, put different grease in, its a little quieter now but still way noisier then my SCX 10

Yup they are. Some have reported that the stock pinion is very noisy(mine wasnt). Robinson racing one will cure that. Also its acceptable to have a little more lash with this pitch as opposed to the stock axial. I would try just snugging the motor mount bolts so you can sill move the motor with the trans out and run it slowly backing the mesh off until it quiets up. Then tighten bolts and reinstall

I switched to an RR 11t, it's a little bit quieter but I don't mind the noise

Mine was very noisy so I went with a RR 12 tooth. It quieted down quite a bit but as was said, they are going to be noisy because of the 32 pitch. Grease it up well and run it.
