Hmmmm... just speculating

About two months ago I had a nice long phone conversation with Rich in which he said..."nope Losi is just not interested in producing a crawler"... Damn these guys are tight lipped - Rich you should be commended for a heroic level of monk like silence - I think a raise is in order.

My speculation
  • 2.2 Comp Legal Design
  • Aluminum Chassis
  • Tried and True 1/10th scale Transmission
  • Losi Rock Carver Tires
  • Losi Beadlocks
  • Losi Radio System with Spektrum DSM 2.4 GHz Technology
  • Losi MSC12RB 12T Fwd/Rev Electronic Speed Control
  • 27T Motor

If it's small, it better be ALOT better quality and design than the MLST pos...

So.....Losi is NOT Losi anymore....the real Losi is with Kyosho! Horizon should give up the Losi name and rename itself...just my 2 cents....THe Losi of old, produced competition kits that were awsome in performance and design...It would be cool if it were a true comp rig rather than a cheap RTR...again my 2 cents.

My first impression is that it's a mini-monster truck. For some reason, the proportions just don't look right to be a 1/10th scale rig. On the other hand, those do look like Rock Claw tires. Unless they made a mini-version of those too, I dunno.

Look at the link geometry in relation to the shocks. The links are parallel, and in my opinion, too short to be set up for a crawler. Which brings me back to my original theory of monster truck.

That cannnot be their crawler. If it was then they haven't been paying attention to you guys. They have all their time going to meets and shows and soak up all the information rccrawler has to offer and that is what they have? Losi can't be serious can they?

And if this was a competition crawler or just a 2.2 its not going to be cheap. They have nothing in the 2-3 hundred price range. Its either your typical RTR 3-4 hundred truck or tourer kit and those the little minature rc toys that aren't really hobby quality. To top it off you have to go through Horizon Hobby?

Hope I'm wrong

One would think they would solicit direct input however, opinions spew forth here pretty readily that is if they are reading the right posts. In this day and age where some overseas manufacturer can rip off your design before you can have it to market, I really don't blame them for keeping quite.

I would bet this thing is going to hit right in the $225-$250 retail price to compete with the Axial RTR, but given the head start and solid design out of the gate for the AX10, I hope they didn't rush things and tried to get super creative, just to be different.

I bet it is either super or mini. Either size really needs some fresh products. Super has died around here. When was the last time a new tire was made for supers? A new part?

The Desert Truck and Speed-T are both under $300 (from some vendors). They both come with 2.4ghz radios and the Speed-T comes with a nice brushless setup too. Also the Micro-T is a tough little thing and fast for its size.

From the picture it does look smaller than a 2.2 but it could just be perspective. Anyway, regardless of what it is I'll probably buy one. I'd love a mini crawler or another 2.2. I'd also like to not have to pay the high ass prices for the Axial replacement parts.

So what if this is just the official release of the Rock Carvers? We did just get a "sneak peak" here on RCC, so maybe June 27th is just the public release of what we already know?

That would be a let down...but certainly a possibility.

That would be really ****ed up. However, you can tell from the pics those are Rock Claws (or a smaller varient) and the wheels and chassis are not something that is currently out on the market.
