Default Replacement springs for TMAXX shocks

Hey all,

I've just built my first crawler, but the crappy TMAXX shocks I chose to buy on the cheap pretty much suck. I figure it's mostly the springs that are ruining the crawling since they basically don't compress unless you have some HOG of a truck chassis sitting on them.

I went to my LHS, but some of the Sunday staff is "lacking". Does anyone have a part number or whatever for nice soft springs that will fit TMAXX shock bodies?

Thanks

I love my Maxx Shocks. I'm not sure what color you have, but the reds are really soft, the blacks are a step stiffer I think, and if you can find them... the springs from the New Bright Jeep Rubicom shocks fit and are softer than all of them

I use Losi springs on mine. Yellow in back, white in front. Losi springs are slightly shorter than the Traxxas, so it gives a slight droop. This can be removed with preload spacers, but it is how I like mine.

Hey CBR,

What size are you referring to?

I see 2.75". Is that right?

Thanks

Traxxas shocks are great for crawlers, cheap and easy to find parts for. I think the springs are the issue with yours. If you want to get a little extra length and stop them from binding, cut the mount off the top cap and put a rod end on it. You can see what I'm talking about in my build thread.

The Losi 5147 and 5148 are very good crawler springs for Traxxas XL and XXL shocks (4" length). I use the 5150 as well.
