Not Flimsy...I have handled 1 in person

Also, Venom versus this... 2 different trucks, 2 different classes. They dont even compete

from my personal experiences with redcat, from working the hobby shop scene, is that they're CHEAP copies of others trucks, and usually broke shortly after they were purchased. That being said they were easy enough to take apart but getting parts was not exactly easy. That being said again... This doesn't look like any other companies truck like their other stuff so maybe they made something worth while?

Talking with Nick from Redcat at Ihobby, the pro-version at least is designed in-house. The version of this truck I saw at the show had axles that appeared to have been milled versus molded which lead me to believe it was a prototype.

The "Pro" version and the $280 RTR version do not share the same axle design.

Here are a couple shots of the $280 version axles:

Well for someone who doesn't comp it's a decent price for a super. Looks sturdy but you can never tell until you actually drive one or read some reviews....looks like a mix of Axial/Berg designs all over the place. I would like to see it in action though.

Downside is even at the cheap price for a super if something breaks you're an ocean away. Plus just because it's a crawler and you go slow does not mean items will be harder to break!

Redcat is based out of Phoeniz, AZ and all parts/RTR trucks ship from that location...

Check out the rs10 section on here, lots of guys running the redcat rs10 with good results, I know it's not the same as this one, but Redcat stuff isn't complete junk. Some of their stuff isn't the best, but for the money it could be a good starting point. Especially if someone wanted to give a super class rig a try but didn't want to spend $500+ to build one, it probably won't win any real comps, but if you are a recreational crawler (yes, not everyone is into comps) it might make a good rig.

I saw one at Disney this year, it had a lot of trouble making it through a half a course before it died.

well I went ahead and picked one up. it ended up being $203 shipped. will see it next week sometime. I will def post up what I think of it. I have been around rc's for a while but been out of the loop for about 4 years. I have plenty of extra parts from the other 2 I have, a duratrax axis and an e-maxx. so I should be able to make something work with this one.
and I am not looking to getting into any kind of competition at all. it is simply to play around in the back yard with a couple of buddies that have crawlers. we are going to set up a small "course" to have some fun with.
