I'm probably somewhere around $1200 into the comp rig, and that's with a homemade dig unit using gears from a OG brusier tranny. The funny thing is, my sportsman class rig, which basically used all of the left over stock parts from upgrades on the comp rig only has about $35 worth of new parts in it and it outclimbs 90% of all of the rigs in my RC club. |

Yeah, I think my new build (zero 4.0/hot racing axles/dual fxrs &45t/hitec 7955/rovers) will end up around $700+ without radio/charger/batterys. Got near that in my ax10 too.

Well let me break it down like this, I bought mine "used" (I say it like this because it never saw rocks) It started with an axail kit, goat brushless, rear steer kit, digital servos, tq3 radio, stock wheels and tires, another set of wheels and rock claws, and another set of stock wheels just sitting there. Also 30* links all around, and a 4200 mah matched pack built 4&2, aluminum c's and knuckles front and rear, and aluminum skid, I bought it for $550 rtr and removed rear steer. I ran it like this for a couple months upgrading the skid to delrin to triagulate the links, then I went crazy, I bought an SWX, vanquish wheels, panther cougers, rcp spools, HD gears, MIP driveshafts, cvds, I ran it like this until a month ago, then did a rebuild, I kept blowing out the cvds, went back to dog bones, went to comp claws, over/under drive, tekin fxr and 45t and 3s. This is where I am now, I dont have a clue what the money spent is. Oh, and NOTHING is original at all. Soon I am gonna order a DNA SSS, I have a dig to put in it to but I haven't ran into a situation where I need it so its just sitting in the box waiting. I would guess from the start to now, its like $2500. My MOA build will be about a grand or so, everything will be new

How's the old saying go.... If you have to ask you can't afford it? I'm in well over a grand for the 2 comp rigs easy. Anywhere from $1000 to $1500 would be a decent average from what I have seen. |

The best thing I would do like I did was find used crawlers with hop ups already. I have spent about Axial rcp built Axles, 5 2cell lipos, banana chassis, dna dig = 200 got lucky on those Misc links, axial trans, dna beadlocks, hbz tires, weights, memory foam = 280 Tekin fxr 55t = 110 Used hitec 5955tg = 75 Last edited by midship909; 06-21-2009 at 05:51 AM. |

I can't say for one rig specifically but in general for crawling I have a tad more than 2000 euros (~2600$) Now I am at the point where my best performing rig does not need money, except for the very rare breaks, just mind work.

Ready to run it gets pretty outrageous for a comp rig but its no more than people put into any other form of competetive RC. Bully 1's $260 LH2.0 5mm bully axle shafts $115 Vanquish Comp DH $200 (Full weights and full sets of all three adapters) 3-5 different sets of tires depending on terrain $100-200 Nomadio Sensor radio system $450 HSR-5990TG steering servo $100 Body $40-50 bucks (depending on paint) Mamba Maxx $130 Motors $50-80 And none of this includes all the little bits like wire, dig switches and servos, links, shocks, ball ends, screws, etc. It also doesnt count in all the testing and trial and error and research that goes into a rig before you get it where you like it. You might go through 4-5 chassis, how many shocks, tires, wheels, servos, etc before getting it where you like it. BUT The real thing to remember here is you get what you pay for. Alot of people will say that "money cant buy you a win" or "a good driver can win with a cheap rig" but there is a reason that these "good drivers" dont drive cheap fragile rigs. They know the truth, why risk it when a DNF or even just an off course repair can cost you an entire comp. |

I tell anyone who is interested in building a comp rig and starting from scratch this. Spend about $1,000 now and get all the right stuff or try to do it on a budget and end up spending $1,500. |

if you are serious about your comp than i suggest living on RCC. plan on spending 1000.00+ and have a good test area that doesnt change until you dial in your crawler.
