man your going to get all kind of answers to that, some you probly wont like, you need to get more spacific, find a couple 2 or 3 of each, weigh the ps andcons of each, and see what fitts you driving style and budget, its alot of trial and error, ther is no 1 goto chassis or 1 goto axle, answers are going to be like a$$holes, everyone is going to have there own, what maters is you like and have fun with what you get, you can always trade or buy new if you dont like wha you get

i just used a bunch of left over parts. stock axial chassis, axles, links, etc. however i have a lcc dig trans that i am throwing in it. i used to use a sidewinder and 5700kv brushless cause thats whaat i had layin around. hopefully i will get it all finished in a day or two. the pro of the lcc dig trans is that i will have 4wd, front free wheel, and rear free wheel. so it will be killer in the corners! gonna drop the 5700 in it for a few. it wont crawl for S#*T but hey its a rock racer!

use what you got and make it work

I belive a lot of people are using tubers, and if you dont want to build one go to tcs.com and look at their tubers i think they are pretty sweet

I am going to use a SCX10 chassis and axles, either with the Axial tranny, or the Summit tranny that I ordered. I will be using a Holmes Hobbies 7t motor and a CC Sidewinder ESC with 3s LiPos.

I should be pretty quick with that, especially with a two speed tranny. Fortunately for me I do have a spare servo laying around, and will be going with the Traxxas TQ4 so I can add a winch to it as well.

I don't know about the VMG's and moabs...All that combo got me was axles stuffed with nylon sawdust..VMG axles, even reinforced, cant handle running 2.2's...If you did something different to make it work,
dieselfuel, let me know!

as i have recently learned a sidewinder and a 7t puller dont get along. sidewinder has like a 27t limit. good luck though let me know how it works.

noweres a thought, i know its not to any of yur answers but to me, its a relevent question,
fact: you cant crawl (cery well) with nitro.
but would it work for racing? you dont need as much of the instant torque of electric, cause id have thoughtits more about momentum.
any ideas?

Best thing you can do is research, research, research.

I just built a 1.9 rock racer buggy based on the 1:1 Campbell XRRA rig, here is the link...
