I took care of the speed problem, second gear is nice when you need a little more wheel speed to make something As for tire size, I don't see it as one, because too big of a tire can limit you as well, due to a higher cog. |

Yes, bigger tires do have there downside. But being able to clear larger rocks (IMO) is better than having a very low COG and not being able to clear anything.

Damn Andy! I thought we were friends?!?! Now that I may be moving, I'm sure all you Colorado boys will start chiming in with your little funnies now huh? I don't think tire size is really that important. Most of the guys winning the comps are using smaller tires, like the Giant Tracs or Savage tires. I think the lack of tire traction is the killer. No company makes the perfect rubber compound for us crawlers. Nothing that really bites and sticks! When watching an rc crawler, you can see the rig's tires constantly breaking loose from where they are planted, which throws you off your line, kills your upward mobility and requires super low gearing to stay on track. I would love to see someone make a tire that is like gum!!! You wouldn't need to go over rocks with just clearance....you could pick a line and use the highest rocks for tire placement to get up and over obsticals....like you are supposed to. |

Yeah I agree to that. I think tire stick would help more then tire size. I am going to get a set of soft KRocks and treat the crap out of them with simple green to see what I can get them to do. |

I like the scale look to them though. What other tire would you go with then? Needs to go on Maxx wheels since I have beadlocks, and I don't want to have to hack the crap out of the tire. I play on rock, slick rock, dirt, and sand. And I am sure your going to say LST, but I don't know about those. |

Well, I thought we were talking about performance limitations here......so we should throw the whole scale, realism thing out the door. The best rubber compound that I've experienced is the soft Imex Jumbo Claw Dog. I just wish it was used on some of their other tire designs. It's really flexible and tacky. The Giant tracs also use the tackiest rubber out there. If the Giant trac was 7 inches tall and 3 inches wide, it might be the perfect tire. The LST is a good tire but suffers from skinny, soft lugs. The lugs are so pliable, they don't want to grab ledges and pull but they do stick to surfaces well, even with much void area on the tread. |

I forgot to say that.....the new IMex clod Swamp Dog tire may be the best new tire....if they used their soft compound. The design, in my opinion, is the best for rc crawling. The size seems to be good. The sidewall looks to be about right. Mounted on a narrow wheel, the lugs will be pulled down onto the sidewall for traction, etc. I'm excited to see this tire and test it.

I think steering seems to be the biggest issue but tires are also a huge limitation. Traction is the only thing keeping The SuperDuke from world domination. j/k I am planning on trying those Clod tires as well, If the are made from the same rubber as the JumboMaxx Swamp Dawgs they may be all that and a bag of chips. |

I think the biggest limitation is running a CLOD! Seriously though, traction. |
