Default Building our backyard course

We are just getting started, so it has a ways to go, but wanted to start posting pics of the progress to get ideas from others as where to go next. I'm trying to create multiple runs, tunnels, bridges, and eventually some kind of water feature. The nice weather is here, so hope to build pretty quick.

looking good so far! i made a small waterfall and 30ft long river that can be driven in that leads to a pond. if you want to go this route i would strongly recommend a natural filtration system. its an awesome addition if you want to add a mud pit cause then you could rinse off in the river. theres quite a few people with course builds on here including myself. its a project that seems to never end. try to avoid the typical rc track and give drivers options of which way to go not just different lines on the rocks. this course has alot of potential.
ok back to the water feature, i wish i would've made my waterfall larger and able to climb on it, that would be awesome and tons of fun. try to draw a lay out before you start laying down tunnels an bridges. a floor plan helps a lot instead of relocating rocks all over the place if you didn't already do the floor plan. my course is mostly for scalers so i just started carving out trails in a 8,000sq ft area and then added obstacles and trails as necessary and still adding. Good luck to you and have fun! if you have any questions feel free to ask, i built my course by myself and gained alot of experience while doing so.

Default New Pics = More progress

Well, here are some more pics from todays progress. It kind of a scaler/rock area more than a course I guess. We just been designing as we go.
I think one of the cool features is going to be the double wire bridge. My brother is currently build a 1/12 scale sawmill that will be water powered to go into the layout somewhere.

The SCX10 is mine and the nightcrawler is my brothers.

And that's 4 80lb bags of concrete so far.... uugghh

Haha the concrete goes fast doesn't it? Make at least one scetion too hard to climb right now so you have something to grow on.

Default Yay! Got the bridge built!

Here are some bridge shots, sorry for the lighting.

For added scale realism, my brother built a cabin and added some signs.

Lots more course to build still. Still working on the really hard to crawl stuff.
And speaking of crawlers, anyone have any opinions of the Mk42 MOA Crawler RTR with 2.4Ghz Radio?

Thanks for the info on those courses. Already started to use a bit of what I saw. I'll post the pics shortly. I certainly wish we had more rock though. We've been scavenging it where ever we can find it. But, all in all, I think it's coming along pretty well. I especially like the bridge I built with gap in it.

Check with your local rock quarry, i don't know about around you but here in arizona you can get a ton for $11.00 for 3 to 9 inch rocks

Default New pics - Corner area and 2nd ramp

Here is some work done today. 2nd ramp I built is good and sturdy as I was able to stand on it. Probably going to do some creative concrete work on the ramps with rocks on top and below.

Has to include this photo because I love the sign my brother made for course.

And here is the entire unfinished course so far.

We will hopefully be playing more concrete and getting close to done this weekend. (well, done for now. This will be a forever project I can already tell...)

Most of what we have readily available is limestone, and people here are GREEDY with all their rock. Most of em just build property boundaries....
