| Gear Grease
What grease is everyone useing in the axles? I am looking for something not real thick but easy to find at a local auto parts or hardware store. I was thinking bearing grease but it seems so thick. My next thought was something like Vasaline. Any thoughts or better ideas?

i just use a little grease from the greasegun in my garrage. I'm not sure if this is the best to use though. the tube says super lithium moly grease. Not as thick as bearing grease, more like vaseline

X2 on the Lucas red and tacky, works great. Another one that I've used is Rocksmith gear jelly, it's really good to. You have to order the gearjelly from team3six in the vendors section here, and it's pricey.

I'm using VP grease with no complaints. Honestly, it doesn't really matter what you use, as long as you use something!

| What are you all using for lube?
Im rebuilding my SCX10 while im making it a scaler. I noticed my transmission was a little noisy, so I was wondering what grease or lube I could get to make things a little smoother.... I heard of Rock Jelly, and I've also heard of people using automatic transmission fluid. I tried lithium grease. But when I took my axle halves apart, there was a ton of sand, and a whole bunch of other stuff that shouldnt be in there, was there.... But yea guys, any help is appreciated |

There are many fine products available and I know a lot of guys are using Lucas Red 'N' Tacky with good results. I personally have been using the Rocksmith Gear Jelly for two years now and I really dig it. I picked up the larger 20 gram size last time I ordered and it's been lasting quite a while...a little goes a long way. |

Creepy, got a link to where I could order some of that Rocksmith Gear Jelly? I've heard of it before, and all the comments on it were good. What about some silicone around the edges of the two axle casings so the "unknown objects" that arent supposed to be in there, stay out. Thanks for the replies guys |

I use Mopar grease, it's green, looks like the same stuff that comes in the Axial kits.

http://rocksmithengineering.com/Gearjelly.html Norm at Team3Six used to carry it as well but it's no longer on his site. As far as silicone; the ever useful Shoe Goo works well | |

I use to be a fan of greese, the red synthetic the most. However, about a year ago I switched to Eureka Pro gear lube. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Pro-Gear-Lube I won't run anything else unless I run out and am waiting for more lol. Cleanup is a breeze, it doesn't fling, doesn't have drag and simply works! The grease is just to thick IMO. My drive train was so much smoother with Eureka Pro. My 1:1 tool box always has lucas red n tacky in it and I have never felt the need to pass it up for hobby lube. Great stuff IMHO.

I have used rockjelly before but use Lucas Red and Tacky and it works just as well. It's cheap too from the local auto parts store. The rockjelly is way too expensive in my opinion for what it does.

Well I'll have to check out the Mopar grease ( I mean cmon, ANYTHING from Mopar works good ) and I'll check out the Lucas Red and Tacky stuff. Im just looking for something that will make things smoother with less drag. |
