You could swap out the solid one piece gear/out puts for a RRP aluminum gear with the extended out put |

so after some major testing this cover i'm really liking the protection and after this weekend seeing the foff rigs run i think these are going to be highly useful, now my son took the hilux out for a spin and i tell ya what if it did'nt have the cover i would have definately lost a spur, the sand and mud he went through took me an hour our so to clean off! so many parts were covered but my spur and pinion were completely protected! |

in order for the cover to fit right , i had to remove the transmission spacer. see below. http://www.rcplanet.com/Axial_Trans_...p/axi30484.htm Is this correct? |

When I assembled mine, the spacer still fits on. Hence the large hole. Just a note: I too run the MiP brand shafts.junfacs suck unless you plan on drilling and tapping to run straight through for higher speeds. For lower speeds you need the double inset screw mounts they now make. I do believe that Robinson Racing makes just the gear without the output shafts, but if that is not the case, I have never had issues with the hardend gears from Hot Racing. I have run them in a TTC rig as well as a DOFF numerous times with no wear or inconsistentancies. This gear cover wasn't designed to keep dirt out, it was designed to limit debries and rocks from jamming up against the spur and something else. At the moment I have sent my cover over to Don at Billet Works Design to see if he can rework his motor mounts to work with these cases. I really enjoy using his mounts as they supply no motor movement and strength to a weak area. |
