Cool Need help with R/C gift!

Hello I'm looking to buy my husband some accessories for his Axial scx10 as a gift. I'm not that R/C knowledgable, so I need a little help!! Please don't flame me for being a noob, just trying to be a good wife ;). Would these things be the right scale?? I don't want him to know so I'm afraid to ask many questions! Here is a video of my husband's crawler if that helps at all! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNe2w_jV-bA

The scx10 is 1/10 scale, so anything that says "suitable for 1/10" will work.

Thanks! And sorry, no sisters . I like getting him things he'll enjoy. A gift card just doesn't say "I love you and I know just what you'll want!"

If you want to make him really happy, buy him some new wheels or tires for his rig.
It looks like he has the stock set up, do you know if he has put new tires or wheels on it?

Here's a link to 1.9" tires, they'd fit on the stock wheels. http://store.rc4wd.com/19-Tires_c_83.html

johnnyh66 - I don't *think* he has. What would be some good tires? Any suggestions anyone?? He's VERY picky I hafta add lol. What kind of tire would be good for crawling in the woods and up hillsides (Which I guess you do with most of them lol).

I'm on my cell phone but will respond more when i get home tonight.

first, sneak a look at his truck, do the tires say ProLine Flat Iron? if so, those are the stock tires.

when you say he's picky, is he more about performance or looks?
the proline tsl super swampers are possibly the best performing 1.9 tire.
the rc4wd baja claws are the prettiest tire, imo, and perform very well as do the rc4wd mickey thompson super swampers.

a new tire that is supposed to perform very good and looks good is the Pit Bull 1.9.

About the 2 best, easy upgrades you can do to a stock SCX 10 are switching to Lipo batteries and good tires.
Switching to lipo will cost you more than tires, you'll need to buy a charger too. It's a great investment though!

There's generally 2 sizes of wheel/tire we run on the SCX 10 (Dingo/Honcho).
1.9" or 2.2"
The stock wheels that come with the Dingo, your husbands truck, are 1.9 inch wheels with ProLine Flat Iron tires.
A lot of people upgrade to new tires and 2.2" size wheels. It makes the truck much more capable but doesn't look as scale as the 1.9"s... with the stock body that is. Then you'd have to buy 2.2" wheels and 2.2" tires.
but
Just getting a good set of 1.9" tires will help him out sooooo much.
Here's a list of popular tires, they sell them in two's so you need to buy 2 set's:
Proline: 1.9" TSL Super Swamper (I just bought these in 2.2")
http://prolineracing.com/tires/inter...r-swamper-1.9/
Pitt Bull: 1.9" Rock Beast (I'm looking for the 2.2's)
http://pitbulltires.com/rockbeastscale.php
RC4WD: 1.9" Interco Supper Swamper TSL Bogger ( I run these )
http://store.rc4wd.com/Interco-Super...e-_p_1133.html
RC4WD: 1.9" Mickey Thompson Baja Claw TTC
http://store.rc4wd.com/Mickey-Thomps...r-_p_1260.html

Also, make sure he has lead weight he can add into the wheels if he hasn't already. You can get it anywhere from online to Ace Hardware. Just apply it with double sided servo tape.

And if you do decide on 1.9" tires, for an extra 14 bucks you can really dress up the stock wheels with MTHead's Fubar Rings: Delrin Beadlock Rings!!! (Axial, VP, Mayhem, TSS and others!)

Take a look at my SCX10 below in my sig, there's pics of it with a very small 2.2" tire (RC4WD 2.2 Mud Slinger) and a very large 1.9" tire (RC4WD 1.9 Supper Swamper TSL Bogger)... and with the unpainted body, the stock 1.9" ProLine Flat Iron tires.
It started as a Dingo.

EDIT: Some people have had a hard time mounting the Proline TSL's on certain wheels... anyone have an issue with them on stock Axial wheels?

The stuff you want to get him is nice and johnny has a good idea on tires, BUT everyone has there own idea on which ones are the best and alot of nice tires were mentioned, im picky also so it might be best to let him pick his own tires for his driving style.just a thought.
would you let your hubby buy your shoes?

Okay so after clearing away some mud and grass and who knows what else They are stock tires. Okay, you guys have me sold, i'll buy some tires too. I thought about buying him some PJs, but I think he'd rather have some tires . I'm 95% sure he's already switched to lipo so he already has that.

So what kind of landscapes are the Interco Super Swamper 1.9 TSL/Bogger Scale Tire good for?? I know it says mud, but does it climb hills well too?? He's all about taking it up mountain sides. Also does anyone know how they do in the snow/ice?? Just wanna make sure I get the best for what he likes to do. I'm really liking those the best though. I'm seeing that is pretty much everyone's favorite as well.
He's picky as far as performance AND looks lol. I'd like to have the best of both worlds for him, but I'm sure he'd agree that performance trumps looks appeal.
I'd buy him the Fubar Rings too, but I'm sure he'll wanna get some wheels for it instead. I don't wanna buy TOO much because I know he'll wanna pick it out himself too I don't wanna take all of the fun out of it for him.

DioptricStraw- I LOVE to play with R/Cs with him!! It's so fun, and our son (17 months) loves, LOVES to go out and watch his daddy run R/C cars/planes/boats! And the hobby shop is one of my favorite places to go! We usually spend over a hour just looking around! Plus I'm into model trains so I have my own favorite section
