| Clod stall help pleez!!!
Alright fellow crawlers, i need somebody smarter than myself to help wiuth this one! Have a berg with twin fxr's, dual tekin 45s(both bought new about a mo. ago), novak dig, all run by a dx3e. Problem is, when the front hits a rock face, it basically stops, while the rear is spinning. If i goose the throttle, the front breaks free, & does what its sposed to, but then, it gets all squirrelly, & i lose my line altogether as the rig hops around. So, after getting some advice, i turned the rear esc down to 75%. Holding the rig in the air, it looked as if i solved the problem. But that goes away the moment that front axle buts up against a rock face! So, i'm asking-what next? I've double, & triple checked the wiring. No breaks anywhere. I dont wanna buy a faster (35) motr for up front. Doesn't seem like the right way to go. Pinion-both motors have 18t on them. I'm getting conflicting info. I thought a tooth or 2 higher would do the trick. But then another buddy says the opposite-a tooth or 2 lower will make the motor spin faster, getting rid of the stall. So, whose right? Or, would you do something else entirely? Thanks folks.

A tooth higher on the front is what you want. Search around. I doubt that there is another topic that has been covered more.. |

imo, 18 tooth pinions are way too much...you're messing with your torque profile. ...you went down to 75% in the rear, so you don't need to mess with different sized pinions Also, what bec are you running?? (Just for the heck of it, try this: Make sure your bec is up to snuff, get some 35T motors with 12T pinions on a 3S lipo, and kick the rear down by 10%) Last edited by crawl-o-matic; 06-29-2012 at 04:40 PM. |

I tried, but now my feeble brain hurts.... That could help..... Quote:
OP, if your radio will support it, I would suggest ditching the dig unit and get a WantAmix from LosiKid. I did that with my Futaba 3PM-x with dual CC ESC's. Much better than the servo dig I had before. One advantage is that you can not only do dig, but can do proportional as well. This means you can have similar motors & same tooth count pinions and over/under drive either end. Not quite as good as a decent radio & dual ESC's, but pretty close. | ||

Its the 18 tooth pinion.......................way too much........... The Tekin motors dont help any either....... I once tried 15T pinion with 55t motors and the stall was soooo bad... they didnt stay in there longer than about a day...... 14t pinion is the most i would ever go........ Now i run 12t rear / 13 t front.............................. OH yea... The Novak Dig Is perfectly fine............... Last edited by roksloski; 06-29-2012 at 05:33 PM. |

I searched it before i posted. Got the same conflicting info from the posts. Lots of redcat stuff, & dudes with different components than myself. Feel free to use those keystrokes positively, instead of btching. Have a good one-crash.

you can also set the FXR's different from each other... An agressive throttle curve in front......or what ever works for you..... |

You have dual esc's, use the same pinion tooth count front and rear (12 or 13T max) and adjust your rear esc to underdrive at whatever % you want...otherwise, you're defeating the purpose of having a dual system in the first place. Do yourself a favor and get a WantAmix or a 4PL radio...you have 2 fxr's, you might as well use them! Also what BEC are you using...it's important! |
