My truck only moves when I nudge it or move spur? Esc?

My scx10 using a traxxas xl5 esc.. I have tried 2 different transmitters and receivers, 3 different motors, different batteries, and it still stalls after a minute use. When I nudge the truck or move the spur it then works again until I have to stop or hit reverse. Also the truck is way faster in reverse. I know it's the esc any ideas?

flip the wires at the motor then change throttle direction on the radio. then recalibrate the esc to the radio. now it should be faster going forward until it dies. lol

Agree with envious on motor wires, also sounds like battery is not taking a charge possibly.

HAH I THought about that but never tried it, will do.

I have tried different batteries & also different esc, its the esc for sure.... not sure whats going on but im pretty sure i ruined it the other day when i ran 3cell on it... XL5 not meant for that lol.

How's the gear mesh and motor temp?
With the pinion too tight on the spur it can/will act the way you describe and the motor will get really hot in about two minutes. (Taken from personal experience...)

mesh is okay, nice and easy to turn, think its just a faulty esc... ive tried everything i can think of.

could the wiring be causing this... i had to make the wires connecting to the motors a little longer, and all i had was some higher guage wire, not much smaller but could it be enough to prevent motors from turning unless u give them a shove

I found out it was my motor, both motors were faulty. I tried a new motor and no problem, looks like ill be rebuilding my tekin 35t

Is it worn brushes (I see your "motor rebuild" thread)? If the brush springs are NOT going to the bottom of the spring slots, you may have "armature stall" which is a short in the windings. New brushes won't fix that.

What happens is you get a shorted section in the wiring. When the motor stops on the bad spot, it won't spin (using throttle) until you get off the bad spot. Once running it's fine until it stops on the same bad spot.
You can:
-Buy a new motor
-Buy a new armature from Holmes Hobbies or Br00d
-Get your existing arms rewound by either vendor

Well I just bought a new motor a Integy 45t Lathe.... The armatures from holmes, im sure they are really good but they are a little pricey, I can almost get a new tekin motor for that... and to send it away for repair would cost 8 bucks to and fro.... so I guess ill retire the old tekin and install the new integy. Thanks for the info though, im only just learning this stuff! ... ill keep my eyes out for a cheap armature.
