So its a brushed slash 4x4/rally. Should sell more of those than Axial sold xr-10's. But just because you can, does it mean you should.

Yes it is another copy of another vehicle on the same platform, but remember, every company wants to put a product up on the shelf that will spark new interest and profit. Same goes for Axial with the SCX10 (Dingo, Honcho, JK), HPI with the Savage and 1/5th scale vehicles, Losi with their truggy/short course trucks, etc. It is an easy way to extend their line without having to make expensive molds and new processes to build these vehicles. For someone who doesn't like the look of a rally vehicle or short course truck but do like the look of this Summit inspired SUV body, the costumer will most likely buy it. Think about the 1:1 vehicles.... Toyota/Scion/Lexus, GM, Nissan, etc, they all use existing platforms or frames to put a new vehicle into their line-up to cover different corners of the consumer market. In no way am I a Traxxas "fan-boy", but I do understand what they're trying to do while still being able to make profit off of this new truck. Toyota uses: Avalon platform for their Venza SUV Corolla for Scion's tC Camry for Lexus' ES 350 GM uses: Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade/Hummer H2/Avalanche Suburban/Yukon XL/Escalade Nissan uses: Armada/ Infiniti QX56 Frontier/Suzuki Equator Maxima/Altima Z/Infiniti G series I'm sure there are some others but that's all I can think of right now. My point is, there is no need to beat up a company who just wants to help out the hobby and to keep themselves in business because that's a very hard thing to do these days... |

I can't believe I actually clicked PLAY! Props to the sound guy too. Now thanks to the "catchy" tune, I'm gonna put my plans for a sporty on hold and get one of these.

All good points. However, wouldn't it be just a little ABSURD if Toyota slapped a Tundra body on a Corolla chassis? Also, how does this help the hobby? Last edited by crawl-o-matic; 08-10-2013 at 07:41 PM.

![]() I guess your question could also go along like this: Wouldn't it be just a little absurd if HPI used the Savage platform for an on-road vehicle? Same thing, it wouldn't make much sense. But basically Traxxas did is what you said in your question. What it boils down to in the end is, what is going to make us more profit with the parts we already have. Like I mentioned in my last post, they are just trying to reach to every "taste" and every corner of the market.

You know, they did the same thing with the Slash 4x4 after they introduced the LOG chassis. They re-released the Hummer Baja body (the fluorescent orange body) and maybe one more... They could have done something a little smarter but I guess they didn't have their morning coffee that morning. ![]()
