When upgrading parts from what comes in the kit (aluminum chubs, knuckles, CVD's, lockers, shock hoops....) I've had to make some changes on the fly, mostly to hardware being used, but it's coming together nicely.

Looks like you've already installed and removed the cross brace in front of the servo horn. I had problems with it too. I fabricated something out of flat stock brass and am just waiting for it to be finished at the powder coating shop. I'll post pics in my "trouble with..." thread and can put a link here if you're interested.

Thanks for the chopping down the posts tip, svt923. The brace I made required me to chop down the front one substantially but now that you mention it, I could probably chop the two rear ones and eliminate the front one altogether.

A link to "trouble with" would be great! Also, resting the battery tray on the recurve box and securing it with a screw eliminates the need for a front brace at all! It's very solid!

Here is how low you can get your body by moving the battery down and cutting a small hole for transmission clearance.

Link is in my next post after I mentioned it, on the first page. Pretty happy with how it turned out. I'll take some more pics with it installed. Looks even better on the truck than just on my work bench.

I too am using the SV3 and I was going to comment that before you cut your battery mount posts, watch out for the size of the ESC. If mounted where the instructions say to (to the side of the receiver box) the width of the ESC (height, when mounted on its side) is too high and it hits the battery tray, even at full stock height.

And you mentioned it only having a 40% drag brake. Can this be changed with the Castle programmer/software? Hope so. I have it, but I haven't wired anything up yet to try.

Then I didn't see your ESC in the pictures and was going to ask where you're going to mount it (in light of the aforementioned problem) but then in latter pics I see what you've done.....and I'm going to copy you. Royalty cheque is in the mail.

What wheels are those, just the Axial beadlocks? They look good.

They are the Axial bead locks. I quite like how they look as well. I went with them because the ring is gunmetal and matches all the aluminum links.

As far as the ESC, in the manual program mode it only lets you set drag brake at 40%. I'm guessing that is the max but I don't have the castle link software because it doesn't work on Mac OS. If you're running a brushed motor with it, it can be a little tricky to get program manual it. Because I didn't have the software to program it from a brushless motor to brush motor and ESC didn't make any beeping noises it was very hard to program the first time. I originally thought it must be defective but through trial and error was able to get a program without any noises. Once I got it switched into brushed motor mode it started beeping and making tones like it was supposed to.

As another side note I think I'm going to get a second battery tray to put on the back to make it easier to tape the ESC and light modules back there.

Ya definitely sucks that the Castle software (or any ESC software that I know of) doesn't work with Mac's. I have a piece of crap old laptop that I strictly use for programming various ESC's.

I sure hope I can program it to 100% drag brake, with brushed motor, using the software and/or Field Card. I have it too.

There's one reason I'm hesitant to move the ESC to the back. I love the look of it there, but then you have wires running all over the place and I'd actually have to add extensions to my motor and CC BEC leads. I'm not too crazy about that, but I'm also not crazy about having everything jammed up in between the motor and the electronics box and I'd have to trim that little lip on the box and drop the ESC down a bit (but not too far that it hits the driveshaft) so it fits under the battery.

I did that on my sons To get his ESC down for the battery tray. It works but the castle ESC is a little larger so I didn't even try.

Ya too big you think? I could probably lower it enough to clear the battery tray at full stock height, definitely not trimmed post height, but even then I'm not sure and it would be getting close to the drive shaft and right side upper link.

Hey, another question for you. For Brushed w/ Reverse wiring, which post is (+) and which (-) ?

Do they align with the Red/Black battery leads?

I want regular forward operation. I can reverse it with my TX.

Thanks.

Yes, plus my radio has a switch if it is wired backwards. I'm guessing most do?

Put some LED's in the light bar. I'm kinda bummed because the module that came with my first set of LED's wont power both the light bar and lights in the bumper.

With the Castle Link, you can set the drag brake to full strength. Too bad it doesn't work with a Mac, you don't have access to a PC? Local hobby shop or a fellow hobbyist in your area might even be able to do it for you.

Default Axial SCX10 G6 Build

I had a Hobbywing ESC and motor that has just been setting on the shelf not being used. I got bored one night and decided to throw it in the G6 and take it for a test drive.. I'm hooked on the power and wheel speed!! It's a brushless sensored 13.5T. It still crawls very well on 2S but is a little touchy when running on 3S. Still crawls great tho for how I use it!

I also put a skid plate on it to keep the frame from getting scratched up any more.
