| rc4wd ax2 2 speed gearing help
Hi from the UK! ive been running an ax2 in my 6x6 dakar for about a year or so now and pretty happy with it, i found that the rig couldn't work without it either being to slow for trailing (slower than walking pace) or fast enough on the flat but stalled on hills. ive used a few motors on it and this is my current setup scx10 spur 87t 45t motor with 19t pinion 3 cell lipo the issue i have with it is that its a little fast in 2nd gear and slow in 1st, ive tried going down to a 35t motor but 1st gear really screams. i find alot of the time im wishing for something in the middle for crawling. is there anyway i can bring the ratio of the gears closer? maybe increase the ratio on 1st? its like changing from 1st gear to 4th in a car cheers adam |

Adam, gear down and volt up or put a hotter motor in it and gear down. Just a thought.

I think that's the nature of the transmission ratios. I run that transmission in a much different vehicle and i would characterize it in the same way. I can imagine it with a 45t. I think it would be best on 3s with a 1800kv-2800kv motor. that may be the best you could get. The real problem is 2nd gear...its too high.
