SCX10 has a slipper clutch, and the sawback does not. Actual performance seems neutral, I haven't heard any reports about sawback plastic tranny gears malfunctions. I think both have plastic tranny gears. However one common advice is to reconsider swapping out plastic shafts, because you'd rather have a shaft fail that a transmission problem. Sawback seems to be pretty robust in factory durability (edge over stock scx10?), few reports of much breaking. But you can get scx10 parts far more places. Scx10 has oil dampened shocks, and the sawback are just spring/oring (so leafs + meh shocks), but seem kinda even in performance. Sawback drives kinda bouncier, which is kinda scale, but trail performance is very similar. Remains to be seen if with a linked suspension the Gmade Komodo has better stock shocks than the sawback. Sawback is more or less scx10 dingo sized, so more for the 11.3" WB bodies, not the 12+" bodies.

Vaterra ascender has adjustable wheel base frame and all metal gears (?) - so that's cool. Probably why the ascender kit is more expensive than a scx10 or sawback kit. The real question would be is scx10/sawback + $70 in hop up parts equal to an ascender. Ascender supposedly has good factory steering but worse shafts(?).

Sawback is way, WAY much more fun to drive than superboring duo SCX/Vaterra.

so its clearly labeled as the GS-01 chassis (same as the sawback), but definitely a 4 linked kit.

$300 at rcmart, mid october release:

good photos of the suspension there

I had a sawback. The fun factor was a 1 out of 10 compared to the SCX10 I have now.

I love my Sawback and the way it crawls, but I also love my Wraith. With some modifications a Sawback will crawl right along side a SCX10, and it doesn't suffer from the design flaws like Axial models do. Not to mention the durability of it. Stock drive shafts are shit, I'll give you that, but that's it. Don't get me started on the weak ass breaking/bending crap Axial sells to the public. Not to mention clearance issues on some Axial kits. I don't like shit rubbing like servos hitting the chassis and drive shafts hitting links or rubber steering links and suspension links. Axial is a good crawler once you replace half of it. Hell, if it wasn't for Axial, VP wouldn't exist.

I'm thinking this new Gmade model might be enough to wake Axial up and make them up their game. IMO Axial has been the big dog to long and it's caused them to get lazy. Build up your reputation and monopolize the market then start selling crap cause people don't have a lot of choice and all the big advertising says Axial is the best and people are suckers. Axial crawlers can be made into bullet proof bad ass crawlers, but why should you have to replace half of a kit with aftermarket parts to just make it durable? In the 8 months I've been running a Sawback I haven't broken a single part. I have bent a set of springs, but that's part of running a leafer. Aftermarket parts consist of drive shafts and front cv's. I have gone through 3 motors, but I don't feel that has anything to do with Gmade quality or capability, just a lot of miles lol. I'm done ranting now

Ive had scx also, the difference is that with scx you can go almost everywhere, but with Sawback you dont and driving it needs a little bit thinking and route planning. Hence its much nicer and much more rewarding to drive.
Never going back to scx is all i can say. ;)

I always had an attraction to the Sawback, I like this even better. With a little smaller tire it may make a nice Class 1 rig.

Gmade 1/10 GS01 Komodo 4 Link Suspension 4WD Crawler Off Road Car Kit #GM54000 Pre-Order,
Yes sir! and wow this is looking like a very nice high quality alternative to the constant Axial noodle plastic crap that almost never gets re-tooled to fix all the weaknesses. This is why I like my Ascender too, but am now subscribed here too!

Same axles as Sawback (183mm wms to wms) but wider, Komodo 193mm wms to wms. Vaterra Ascender 220mm iirc?

I like the wheels, reminds me of the Mickey Thompson sidebiters that's one my 1:1. I wish rc4wd made the officially licensed mt wheels in 1.9 or 1.55. These may fit the bill

Reliable? Hands down more reliable/durable than a stock Axial rig. All it is, is a Sawback with 4 link suspension and the Sawback is bullet proof except for the drive shafts. The drive shafts really suck.

^^^ I was gonna say the drive shafts look like they pretty cheezy on this rig.

I'd have to paint the chassis, silver, polished or whatever it is just doesn't do it for me.

Other than that, looks pretty decent.
