Default What is the best RC Crawler Platform for this sizes 1/5 or 1/8 ?

Hello Guys ?

I need to develop an autonomous vehicle and I'm thinking of using one RC Crawler for this with using scale 1:5 or 1:8.

But I have some problems to solve. I need to know which brand or model has the best durability and wider parts availability.

See the example the simple rover vehicle

Please help..

Best Regards

Fabio

I'd simply like to know if there were in fact any 1/5 crawlers out there. They'd likely be very capable and a lot of fun.

I'd take a look at the traxxas e-maxx. Both stock and aftermarket parts are easy to come by. It's not a crawler but if you are trying to build something similar to the video it would be a good platform to start with. If you gather parts from scratch I'd suggest getting RPM a-arms and the larger revo/summit driveshafts.

There's the new Redcat Clawback MOA 1/5 scale Clawback Crawler

Exceed Mad Torque 1/8 MOA (also available in 6x6 and 8x8 configurations) Exceed RC Mad Torque Crawler
Exceed RC 1/8 Scale Mad Torque 8x8 Crawler 2.4ghz Ready to Run RC Remote Control Radio Car

Exceed Maxstone 1/8 MOA 1/8 Rock Crawler

Both brands are considered "off brands" but Redcat has good parts availability, and the Exceed parts are largely interchangeable with name brand parts (axles are close copies of berg's)

If you have a "healthy" budget there is no beating a comp class super, If performance is what you are looking for. Bare bones and lightweight. The tires are 8" in diameter and the wheel base is 18" for reference.

Look up Dlux Crawlers and check out his Super axles. You'll need a chassis and some other parts too, which he carries many of. What he dies not carry he woukd be happy to point you in the right direction.

Sorry for the strange photo, this got it's first pack thru it today so I don't have many.

purpose - use ?

mars mission ?

food cart delivery ?

In my community autonomous surface RC would likely get jacked, if it were driven around the block, beyond view or physical defense.
And without any deterrent or physical defense system it'll likely become meth zombie property or at least become vandalized - tagged !? Lol

You'll probably need a 300 lb. tank if ya wanna thwart dem meth zombies when rolling autonomously !? Lol

Granted you could just GPS track it later... but ya probably better be sure you're life ins. policy is in order before that confrontation !? Lol / serial

If yer feeling confident with your autonomous creativity... maybe you'll wanna ride along ?

Depend on things it has to carry, for weight, how stable, are cameras going to be used while it is dynamic or static, etc. something ifs or rfs as well might deliver a better picture.

That Clawback is... HUGE!!!!! I kinda want...

I've thought about building something out of Yeti XL axles since they are available as well as wheels/tires.
