| Axles.. narrowed wraith ar60's or scx10.2 ar44's
Ok here is the scoop. I'm starting a new class2 build for late 2017. I'm trying to decide on axles. Normally I would use scx10 narrow XR modded axles but wanting to try something different this round. Need some opinions on this as I'm torn between my two options. This will be a "d90 Truggy" build over the next few months."keep in mind that this will still try and be as Scale as possible for running sorcca comps" Option #1: I already have a set of wraith axles laying around. What are thoughts on narrowing them to the width I need and using them? (I do have fabrication skills and can build my own brass tubes to stiffen the axles back to better than original and shorten my universal shafts) Option #2: acquire a new set of scx10.2 axles and build them to what I need. I know that obviously the wraith axles would be my cheaper route since they are already equipped with over/under gears. But on that note it will take much more effort to build the wraith axles but less money to build them. Scx10.2 axles will cost more once upgrades are factored in. Just looking for thoughts or anyone who has experience with 10.2 axles or narrowed wraith axles. |

The diff clearance on the new AR44's are nice. I'm not yet convinced that they steer as well as the old XR10 / wraith axles and you would need a transfer case that could get you over / under ratios.

Another narrowable option is Ascender axles, here's my favorite 1.9 Wraith build! Wrascenderaith? |

AR44 axles are the tits man. Steer the same as XR stuff, but they're a hair narrower than stock width scx10.1s. All I got on mine was the hot racing chubs and brass knuckles, I havent had any issues with them either.

Other minor factors: - greater reduction ration (less torque twist) for ar44 axle - ar44 has not a bullet proof overdrive solution without a transfer case. Overdrive bevel gears are now available but their robustness has to be proven. Besides it is the 'wrong way' because the gear ratio is reduced. My 2 cents Filippo | |

It sounds like the Boom Racing XR Mod axle would be perfect. Boom Racing XRMod PHAT Axle Front & Rear |

The scx10 and wraith axles have big gears better for big power it also has big diffs that hang on everything i have a set of exstemely narrowed wraith axles there just what i wanted and were very easy to mod i just carved new splines in to the housing and there working great the only thing i know about the ar44s is that they have small gears but have realy good ground clearence personaly if i had the cash i would narrow 1 of the steelish wraith axles and run the booms xrmod axle in the rear i think it would be a good combo for a high powered rig i think there should be a ocp ar44 that would be way scale
